Her Weight Loss Mindset | Lose Weight, Meal Prep, Healthy Habits, and Workouts
Your Body Doesn't Need Fixed, This Does
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
“No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who are trained by it. Therefore, strengthen your feeble arms and weak knees. Make level paths for your feet, so that the lame may not be disabled, but rather healed.” Hebrews 12:11-12
“This is what the Lord says: ‘Stop at the crossroads and look around. Ask for the old, godly way, and walk in it. Travel its path, and you will find rest for your souls.’” Jeremiah 6:16
Fixing assumes something is broken. So when your approach sounds like:
- “I need to fix my metabolism” “I need to fix my cravings”“I need to fix my body”
Your nervous system hears danger because constant monitoring increases stress, especially when results seem so far off, which they always do at the start. Stress increases cortisol, the stress hormone and cortisol tells your body to conserve, protect, fight.
Your body resists not because it’s stubborn, but because it’s being managed like a problem instead of cared for like a person.
Healing happens when the body feels safe enough to let go, when we start to walk in obedience to the Holy Spirit.
Don’t you WANT that?
Don’t you crave that healing and peace?
What’s keeping you from actually walking in His ways and trusting that surrender works?
Do you think you know more than God?
As you journal today ask yourself:
- Where have I been trying to “fix” myself instead of obey and listen? What would change if I treated my body like an ally? Who could I become if I let God lead my weight loss journey?
Lord, I’m tired of fighting and fixing. I am exhausted to be honest. I say I just want You to fix me, yet when You lead and guide me I don’t listen. Help me release the belief that my body is a problem to solve, I love her Lord, help me treat her as such. Thank You for this body Father, forgive me for trying to “fix” myself, I am not broken because You are in me Jesus. Teach me how to create safety in my body instead of pressure to conform to the world. I only want to obey You Lord. Please show me how. I love You so much and it’s in Your Name I pray, Amen.

Body Resists Force
I'm going to miss this too. The more you focus on fixing your body, the more frustrated you become with her. The more you monitor it, measure it, correct it, like the louder the resistance gets.
Have you noticed this? So today we're talking about a truth that most women never hear. Your body resists force, but she does respond to safety.
So how can we make her feel safe when she's been abused for decades by fad diets, calorie restriction, overtraining, and horrible self-sabotage, and unkind words and thoughts? There is hope.
We have to retrain our thought life to align with the gospel. Not always an easy task, but we must if we truly want to heal and release the weight forever and let God lead this weight loss journey. So let's start right now.
Are you sick of trying diet after diet and not losing weight? Are you tired of doubting your ability to actually lose weight in a healthy way? Do you wish you could find a laid out for you plan that will help you stay accountable to your goals?
Hey friends, I'm Lindy Schlabach, Christian Fitness & Nutrition Coach. I gained 100 pounds in my late 20s and struggled for years to get it off. So grab your pre-workout and let's chat.
Biblical Weight Loss Framework
You're not going to get to your goal weight in the biblical weight loss framework, but you are going to have tactical steps that you can take every day to implant the truth of the word in strategies and structures that are going to help you get to
the weight that God needs you to be at eventually when the time is right. So, the biblical weight loss framework is really about re-training your brain. It's about healing.
It's about recognizing unhealthy patterns and behaviors and thoughts, mindsets around exercise or food prep or macros or, you know, trauma or things that you have experienced in your life.
It's about learning to recognize resentment, bitterness, anger, unhealed tragedies that you've experienced. There's so much that goes into releasing weight for good. And when you join the biblical weight loss framework, that's what we're going to do.
It's a group accountability program that's going to help you specifically recognize the areas where God needs you to heal. I'm a mediator.
I'm going to walk you through this very carefully, Holy Spirit led and created program that's going to help you get to tactics and strategies for optimal weight loss eventually.
But the whole point of it is that we want to make disciples who make disciples, right? Like that's the call of the gospel. It's not about a weight loss goal.
It's not about any of that, but it's about aligning and healing with God's truth. So that in time, when you have put in place the strategies that I will teach you, you will see the results that you want to achieve.
So join the Biblical Weight Loss Framework. This is not easy work, but this is work that is going to actually allow you to get to where God needs you to go. Oftentimes, it's more than we can ask for or imagine, right?
We know that about his truth. So join the Biblical Weight Loss Framework, and let's get started today. So Hebrews chapter 12, verses 11 and 12, this is one of my all-time favorites.
It says, no discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who are trained by it. Therefore, strengthen your feeble arms and weak knees.
Make level paths for your feet so that the lame may not be disabled, but rather healed. This is what the Lord says, stop at the crossroads and look around. Ask for the old godly way and walk in it.
Travel its path and you will find rest for your souls. That comes from Jeremiah 6 16. Discipline is a fruit of the spirit, and rest precedes restoration.
Fixing Backfires and Healing Surrenders
So let's explore why trying to fix ourselves backfires. Well, the number one thing is fixing assumes that something is broken.
So when your approach to your body sounds like, I need to fix my metabolism, I need to fix my cravings, I need to fix my body, your nervous system hears danger because she's constantly monitoring increases in stress, especially when your results seem
so far off, which they always do to the start. Stress increases cortisol, which is your stress hormone, and cortisol tells your body to tighten up, conserve, protect. I need to fix, I need to fix, I need to fix.
Your body resists not because she's stubborn, but because you're managing her like a problem to be solved instead of caring for her like the person that she is.
I know I keep hammering this point this month, but we have to start treating our bodies like God calls us to. He created us in His image, He is in us, He dwells in us and we abuse Him with food.
We abuse Him with inactivity, we're gluttonous, we self-sabotage, we self-deprecate, we shame ourselves, we speak and think horrible things about ourselves and then wonder why we're not reaching our goals or hearing from the Lord.
So we have to take a step back. We have to realign our body with the Bible because God's design is perfect and He invites us to partner with Him, not shame ourselves into weight loss or diet culture.
Jesus healed people because of who He was, and through the faith of the people that He encountered. He showed up for those in need who were blind, who were lame, who were overcome with demons. He traveled all over healing people.
But through the power of ascension, after His death and resurrection, He came to live in us when we ask Him to be the Lord of our lives. Isn't that incredible? Yet we still try to strive and try and fix instead of surrender.
But true healing, biblical, godly healing happens when the body feels safe enough to let go. When we start to walk in obedience to the Holy Spirit, because that's what His Word tells us to do. And don't you want that?
Don't you crave that healing and peace? I know I do. So what's keeping you from actually walking in His ways and trusting that surrender works so much better than strive?
Do you think you know more than God? Because that's essentially what you're saying every time you go against what He says for you to do.
So as you journal this week, I want you to ask yourself, where have you been trying to fix yourself instead of obey and listen to Him? What would change if you treated your body like an ally instead of an enemy?
And who could you become if you let God lead your weight loss journey?
Proper Fueling with Macros
I was working with a client this week. She's just really struggling with tracking all of the food in her macro plan. And I'm eating this, but it's healthy this, and it's this and that.
And as I was listening to her, I was just asking the Lord to fill me with His truth and help me to respond to her in a way that was going to encourage her and remind her that the framework was created specifically by the Lord.
And so as I'm praying for these things, you know, I think it's so important for us to remember that we can overeat healthy food.
Just because you're eating organic, or you're eating healthy fats, or lean proteins, or fiber-filled carbs, you can still overeat those things. So our bodies, they can only use a certain amount of nutrients at a time.
So this particular client, she's eating a lot of food. Like 2400 calories a day, maybe a little bit more than that. I can't actually remember.
But it's quite a bit more than she's used to eating. And she's going over a little bit on her fats. Which they're healthy fats, which is great.
But too much fat, anything that our body can't use stores its sugar, which turns to fat. And that's not what we want. We don't want to regenerate fat cells.
And then on the opposite end, if you're not eating enough, our body holds on to fat cells. It multiplies fat cells in order to protect her because she's not getting enough fuel. So we think keto is the way.
It's not. We think, you know, focus on carnivore is the way. It's not.
I mean, these things can work for a certain period of time. I'm not saying that they can't.
But in order to be sustainable, a life long process, putting so much pressure on ourselves to diet, to eat one way or another, it might work for getting ready for a wedding or a vacation, but it's not sustainable.
And the Lord put plants and herbs and fruits and vegetables and potatoes and legumes and beans and all these things on the earth for us to eat. But we have to understand how our body works.
I was talking to a friend that I met recently at church this week, and I did a formula for her for a macro plan, and she needs to eat like 2,800 calories. And that kind of freaked her out a little bit because she's always done keto.
And it's such a mindset shift. But when you really lean into the word, instead of trying to fix or control or just go along with what the world says, the Lord's going to lead us through conviction to do the right thing.
And she was talking about intuitive eating and all of it. Well, I want to eat intuitively. And so that might be a fix that you're trying to make towards your body.
And that's intuitive eating can come eventually. And that should be the goal for all of us eventually. But this is the problem.
100% of the women that I work with are under-fueled. And when I say under-fueled, that means under-fueled improperly. They're eating either heavy fat or heavy carbs, and they're not getting near enough protein.
So my client I've been working with one-on-one, she does a great job on her protein. It's the other areas we have to kind of balance a little bit more. But that's the thing.
They have to be in balance. Because protein keeps us full and satiated. Your fat aids in your hormone production, and your carbs are your body's energy source.
So you have to get a macro-based diet in order to know what you need at each time. So like, I follow a 40-30-30 method basically. And so 40% carbs, 30% protein, 30% fat is the basic breakdown.
And then there's a formula like if you're exercising, if you're not, if you're exercising hard, if you're exercising kind of moderate. Most people I start off at not exercising or like a light exercise, maybe a walk a couple of times a week.
And so it's all very dependent on your age. There's just a couple of factors that go into it.
And so it's really funny to me, not funny, haha, but just funny to me because I had the same experience when I first did my macro plan and it was going to be eating like four to 600 calories.
Maybe it was more than that, more than I was already eating. And I was going to, you know, a body weight workout instead of lifting weights, you know, which I hadn't been used to.
And I just, I know I've told you this before, but like a month in, I'm eight pounds heavier and I was frustrated. And the Lord just kept saying, do you trust me? Do you trust me?
Do you trust me?
Trust, Intuition and Godʼs Guidance
And so if you're considering the biblical weight loss framework, that's what I want you to think. Like, do you trust me?
Do you trust that the Lord put this program on my heart enough to lead and guide me to create it exactly the way he needed me to create it?
Because in order to get to intuitive eating, first you have to fuel, you have to learn how to fuel your body properly, which means you have to trust me enough to order a macro plan and be willing to gain 10 pounds your first month if it means you're
going to be 30 pounds down in three months. Because essentially that's what will happen if you trust me and just go all in.
And then once you start to see the result and your body is like feeling good, you're sleeping well at night, you're waking up rested, you have energy through the day, you're not finding yourself needing like a huge caffeine burst in the middle of the
afternoon, you're going to see the benefit of it. And then you're going to realize, oh, hey, my body actually does need all of this food in order to function properly.
Because the average female at rest burns 15 to 1800 calories a day, not doing anything, that's at rest, okay?
So when you start to actually fuel your body properly and you start to feel like a normal human being functioning optimally, then you can begin to implement intuitive eating because you're going to be in tune with the Holy Spirit for one.
So God's going to tell you what to eat, which lately he keeps telling me to eat oatmeal. I haven't listened yet, I've eaten it once. So you'll learn to be more in tune to those kinds of things.
So intuitive eating is ultimately the goal. But that's like a year down the road, all right?
You have to learn, first of all, to love your body, stop trying to fix her, and start to listen to her because your brain and your body know a heck of a lot better than your feelings do.
Your feelings are a lie, your feelings are trauma, your feelings are what social media says works.
The truth comes from connection to the Holy Spirit and realizing that you actually don't know anything about weight loss or you would be at your goal right now. This works, the framework works, because it's about taking yourself out of it.
It's about taking weight loss out of it. It's about putting on the armor of God and walking in the belt of truth, which starts every day with prayer and getting in his word and saying, Lord, rid me of myself. I belong to you.
I'm done being selfish. I'm done being vain.
I want to eat all the food in the right amount so that I can actually lose the way, so you can actually start to teach me what my body needs instead of me feeling like I need to fix something that is not broken. You are not broken.
Perfectly, beautifully created in the image of Jesus Christ who died on a cross for you. You are not broken. You might not be your goal weight.
That's okay. You're still not broken. You're beautiful.
You're loved. You're amazing. You're kind.
You're generous. Look in your mirror and remind yourself of that every single day. Lord, I am tired.
I am tired of fighting and fixing, and I'm exhausted, to be honest. I just, I say, I just want you to fix me, Lord. But then you lead me and guide me, and I don't listen or obey, and I'm tired.
Jesus, please help me release the belief that my body is a problem to solve. Help me to love her, Lord. Help me to treat her like I love her.
Thank you for this body, Father. Forgive me for trying to fix her. I am not broken because you are in me, Jesus.
Teach me how to create safety in my body instead of pressure to conform to the world. I only want to obey you. Please show me how.
I love you so much, and it's in your name I ask these things. Amen. Hey sis, I hope you enjoyed today's episode.
