Staying Focused On Your Weight Loss In A Busy Season

Lindy Schlabach - Christian Mindset & Weight Loss Coach Season 2 Episode 142

Isaiah 26:3 “You will keep in perfect peace his whose mind is steadfast because he trusts in you.

1. Anchor Your Morning — Even 5 Minutes Changes Your Day.

Try this 1-minute prayer: “Lord, steady my mind. Direct my choices. Let me honor You today.”

2. Nourish Your Body Instead of Restricting

3. Protect Your Peace — Protect Your Schedule

You are allowed to say: “We’re staying home tonight.” “That doesn’t work for us this year.” “We’ll celebrate simply.” Peace is not passive. Peace requires boundaries.

4. Keep Movement Simple + Repeatable

Your December workouts should be:

  • Empowering
  • Simple
  • Strength-based
  • Repeatable

5. Shift into a “December Woman” Identity

10 minute WORKOUT:

Round (2 minutes):
 • 30 sec squats
 • 30 sec wall push-ups
 • 30 sec marching high knees
 • 30 sec glute bridges

Repeat 5 rounds (10 minutes total). Strength keeps your metabolism steady all month long.

Cinnamon Vanilla Protein Hot Cocoa:

  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 scoop chocolate or vanilla protein
  • 1 tsp cocoa powder
  • Dash of cinnamon
  • Drop of vanilla
Blend, heat, sip, enjoy. Protein keeps cravings under control — especially in December.

Lord, thank You for this woman listening. Remind her Father who she is in You. Give her a December filled with peace, strength, and Christ-centered purpose. Help her nourish her body, protect her time, and walk in wisdom and joy as she focuses on the true meaning of the season, You. Steady her mind Jesus, calm her heart, and guide her choices. Thank You Father, in Jesus’ name, amen.

Hello, sweet sister. Welcome. We are kicking off the Christmas Wellness Podcast Series.

I am so grateful and glad that you're here because this season, oh my goodness, it can feel like such a whirlwind. Meals, events, kids activities, vacation, work, family dynamics, all mixed with sugar, stress, and unwanted or unwelcome expectations.

But that has something different for you. A December marked by peace, strength, and wisdom, not chaos. Today's scripture comes from Isaiah chapter 26 verse 3.

You will keep in perfect peace his whose mind is steadfast because he trusts in you. Remember, we've talked about steadfast off and on over the past few months and that means unwavering.

We are unwavering in our faith because we can trust in the creator of the universe. Isn't that just such an incredible promise? And this verse gives us something powerful.

It shows us that peace is not found in a perfect schedule. It's found in a heart focused on the Holy Spirit living inside of you.

So today, we are going to create a December rhythm that is going to keep you grounded in God and in the Word and steady in this sometimes tricky through the season wellness journey. So grab your iced coffee and let's chat.

Are you sick of trying diet after diet and not losing weight? Are you tired of doubting your ability to actually lose weight in a healthy way? Do you wish you could find a laid out for you plan that will help you stay accountable to your goals?

Hey friends, I'm Lindy Slayball, Christian Fitness and Nutrition Coach. I gained 100 pounds in my late 20s and struggled for years to get it off. Nine years ago, I found a system that works and has helped me lose over 90 of those pounds.

I've worked with women in online fitness and nutrition ever since.

In this podcast, I'll teach you how to reframe your thoughts about weight loss and your ability to achieve lasting results and lose weight in a way that honors God without obsessing about the scale and meal plan and prep for your family.

So grab your pre-workout and let's chat. I want to invite you to the Biblical Weight Loss Framework and take a Holy Spirit led approach to weight loss God's way. We are going to kick off a new accountability group on January 5th.

Listen, this is not a New Year's resolution. This is not a weight loss plan. This is not another fad diet.

This is digging in to the struggles and the triggers that you face personally, and learning how to recognize them, pray through them, lay them down at the cross once and for all, and create tactical solutions that are going to help you continue on

your weight loss journey. And finally, release the weight that has been hanging on to you, not just physically but emotionally, and all of the things that you struggle with. Join the Biblical Weight Loss Framework.

December Mindset Shift

So, let's get one thing clear. December does not have to derail you. It shouldn't.

Most women entered this month with one of two mindsets. Either this month is crazy, I'll start in January, or I have to be perfect or else I failed. But we know that neither of those mindsets brings us peace, and neither definitely brings progress.

Like, it just doesn't work to have either of those mindsets. And these are not God's heart for us either. Listen, I have lived in both of those mindsets.

Lately, it's mostly been the latter. But this is a distraction tactic of the enemy. These are old, unhealthy habits and mindsets that we have placed in our lives.

And here's the truth, you don't need to power through December. You need to surrender. So, let's walk through a simple, powerful framework that's going to shift your entire month.

Now, I don't want you to just listen to this and be like, oh, yeah, yeah, okay, that sounds good. I want you to take notes. I want you to pray through this.

I have already prayed before I started this podcast for the woman who is listening and that her heart is going to be changed by this message.

So, don't just listen, take notes, pray, ask the Spirit to speak to you and to point out one thing that you can work on this season, okay?

Five December Pillars

The first one, always, always, always anchor your morning. Five minutes can change your day. If you rush through your morning, it's going to set off stress eating, mindless choices, unplanned snacking, and a day that feels out of control.

No more. We are waking up at least five minutes early. We're starting with prayer.

We're getting in the Word, not just a devotional, in the Word. We are practicing stillness and listening to what the Holy Father is going to put into our hearts. This restores our focus.

So, try this one-minute prayer. Lord, steady my mind, direct my choices, and let me honor you today. That's it.

You can say a simple, Lord, give me what I need. Or, Lord, hear my prayer. Hearing knows the thoughts and the hopes and the dreams that you have.

These prayers work because it's going to recenter your identity before the day pulls you into chaos. The next thing is you're going to nourish your body instead of restricting. Restriction feels holy, but it actually creates rebellion.

It creates legalism. Nourishment, however, creates peace. So ask yourself every morning, how can I nourish my body today?

Not, how can I avoid messing up? I struggle in this area. Plan your meals.

You can nourish your body today by loading up on protein, 25 to 30 grams per meal, four to five times a day. You want to have 50% of your plate veggies. You want to drink half your weight in ounces of water.

We are avoiding those all or nothing patterns. They don't work. It's legalism.

That is not what Christ died for. Christ died for freedom. There's no more strive and try.

This way we can enjoy our Christmas treats with intention. This is going to flip your month from stressful to sustainable. And doesn't that just sound absolutely amazing?

The best gift you're going to give yourself this year is surrender to the Holy Spirit. The next thing you're going to do is protect your peace and protect your schedule. You are allowed to say, listen to me, don't tune out.

You are allowed to say, hey, we're staying home tonight. Or that doesn't work for us this year. We'll celebrate simply.

Peace is not passive. It is not manipulation. It is not people pleasing.

Peace requires boundaries and it's okay to set new traditions with your family. Our family is packing up and going to my dad's for Florida this year. For like almost two weeks and that has created a couple of unkind comments in my family.

But you know what? We're starting new traditions with our family that fill our cup. So maybe Peace for You looks like one event per weekend or two events per month.

Or leaving a party early or saying no to hosting this year. Pass the buck. It's someone else's turn.

Maybe you do a potluck instead of cooking everything. You should be doing this anyway. If people are not bringing dishes to your home, it's time to delegate.

Let people clean up the kitchen. It doesn't have to be you. If it's not perfect or the way you do it, that's fine.

You can finish up after they leave. Your schedule is a spiritual decision and it's your duty to honor God with all of your choices. The next thing you're going to do is keep your movement simple and repeatable.

Your December workouts should be empowering. They should be simple. They should be focused on strength.

They should be something that you can do that are repeatable, that becomes familiar, so you know what to expect.

Because oftentimes when we're operating in chaos and we try to learn something new or do something crazy, we get frustrated and we quit and we're not doing that.

So I don't care if you do the same 10-minute workout, three, four, five days a week, that's okay. Add a little bit more weight, go a little bit longer, fast before you do it instead of eating breakfast, try something different.

We're not focusing on hour-long, complicated, all-or-nothing thinking. Think about 10 minutes. What can you do in 10 minutes?

Because honestly, 10 minutes done four to five times a week beats one perfect workout done one time. That's not doing anything for anyone. The fifth thing you're going to do is shift into a, I am a December woman sort of identity.

Stop telling yourself, I always fall apart in December, I'll just fix it next month. Instead declare, I will stay steady in December because God calls me to honor my body as a temple. I choose peace.

I nourish myself because the word tells me to. I will move my body. I will honor God today, not later.

Tomorrow isn't promised anyway. You're not promised January. We see the meme on social media all the time that says, Jesus knew he had one day to live.

He wasn't out partying, gallivanting, being gluttonous. He was washing the feet of his disciples. He was choosing to serve.

Creating this kind of identity in our God, our risen Savior, creates action. It creates intention. And that action and intention is going to create results that you desire.

And I'm not talking about on the scale. I'm talking about in your heart and your soul and the peace that he offers. And I struggle here right along with you.

I could cry just talking about some of these things because I feel like I fail at these things epically lately. But we're not focusing on all the things that we don't do. We're focusing on the fact that every moment we can do the next right thing.

Every moment we can repent and ask the Lord to fix the things that make us so frustrated. December will then become a month of honoring the Lord. It can become a month of surrendering the hosting, surrendering all the things you've done in the past.

If you have not prayed and asked the Lord if you should host this year, pray and ask the Lord if you should host this year and maybe he'll say yes, host, invite someone new or he'll say no, pass the buck. It's someone else's turn.

He's going to provide that person. It'll be okay.

Wellness Resources

So I want to share with you a 10-minute workout that's a Christmas strength flow. You can do this anytime, anywhere. So the rounds are two minutes and you're going to repeat five rounds.

So it's going to take you 10 minutes total. Okay. You're going to do 30-second wall squats, 30-seconds of wall push-ups, or you can do push-ups on your knees, 30-seconds of marching high knees.

We're not jumping, we're not doing hit workouts, especially ladies over 40. Remember, zone two cardio. Then we're going to do 30-seconds of glute bridges.

Because building strength in these areas of your life is going to keep your metabolism steady and revving all month long.

If you start your day with a 25-30 grams of protein, and you do some 10-minute strength workouts, three to five days a week, I guarantee you, your cravings are going to reduce, your pants are going to feel lighter.

Yes, moving into Christmas season, even when you're having treats. It can be done. You have to stop going into this time of year thinking, I'm just going to eat everything, and then I'll start in January.

You haven't started in January yet. Why would you think this year would be different? Because you're not fixing the things in your mind that need fixed.

That only comes through personal relationship with Jesus and letting him direct your thoughts, your actions, and your choices. I want to share with you a healthy recipe that's going to keep you feeling festive.

It's going to keep you feeling satisfied. It's a cinnamon vanilla protein hot cocoa. How does that sound?

This is one of the easiest and coziest Christmas drinks ever. It's going to give you a little bit of sweet, so it's satisfying your cravings, but it's going to help you work towards your goals.

You're going to take one cup of unsweetened almond milk, and you're going to take one scoop of either chocolate or vanilla protein.

If you need a recommendation, please email me, info at herweightlossmindset.com, or you can reach out to me on social media. You're going to add one teaspoon of cocoa powder and a dash of cinnamon. You could add a dash of pumpkin spice.

You could switch up your seasonings if you're not a cinnamon flavor, but try a dash of cinnamon and a drop of pure vanilla extract. You're going to blend that. You're going to heat it up a little bit on your stovetop.

Put it in your favorite Christmas mug and enjoy. This is going to add protein. It's going to help you keep full and satiated.

And this month, when it's so important for you to stay cozy, it's going to fill your belly with that warmth and comfort. And you can sit there while you sip and thank God for all of your blessings. Isn't that just amazing?

We don't have to eat garbage to get a sweet treat fix. We can make things that fuel us. So this year, I want to think about focusing on the 80-20 rule.

And here's a fun macro tip that will help. So keep your protein, again, 25 to 30 grams per meal. Protein is your craving stabilizer.

It's going to help regulate your blood sugar. It's going to give you energy and it's going to control your hunger. So when you hit your protein, you naturally eat less sugar.

You don't need willpower. This is literally how God created your body to function. So I want you to think about this question as the next few weeks progress.

Journal it. Write it down. What would a peaceful, steady December look like for me?

I want you to close your eyes. I want you to picture it. I want you to pray over it and ask the Lord, is there anything that I need to do in this month?

Maybe it's I need to go serve meals to someone. Maybe it's I need to go visit the elderly. Maybe it's you need to go do some Christmas shopping on your own and take yourself to the coffee shop before and just have some time to yourself.

Ask the Lord what it is that you need and then choose that choice one decision at a time. It can feel different. It can feel uncomfortable.

The word has never, ever once told us to be comfortable. It tells us to lean into the Holy Spirit and let the Lord lead. And then we have to have the strength to walk it out in Holy Spirit obedience.

He will give you exactly what you need. Ask and then obey. Holy Father, thank you for the woman listening to this podcast.

Remind her father who she is in you. Give her December filled with peace, strength, and Christ-centered purpose.

Father, help her nourish her body and protect her time and walk in wisdom and joy as she focuses on the true meaning of this season, which is you and your son. Steady her mind, Jesus. Calm her heart and guide her choices.

We thank you, Father, for the blessing that you are. And it's in Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

Hey sis, I hope you enjoyed today's episode. If so, would you take 30 seconds and share it with a friend? Also, please leave a quick review for the show on Apple Podcasts.
