3 Fall Recipes that Support Your Weight Loss Goals

Lindy Schlabach - Christian Mindset & Weight Loss Coach Season 2 Episode 138

Ezekiel 47:12 “Fruit trees of all kinds will grow along both sides of the river. The leaves of these trees will never turn brown and fall, and there will always be fruit on their branches. There will be a new crop every month, for they are watered by the river flowing from the Temple. The fruit will be for food and the leaves for healing.”

Try these delicious recipes:

1. Harvest Breakfast Bowl.

  • ½ cup cooked oats or quinoa
  • 1 small apple or pear, diced
  • 1 tablespoon chopped nuts
  • A sprinkle of cinnamon
  • A drizzle of almond butter or protein powder mixed in, or both!

Lord, thank You for this food that fuels my purpose. Help me walk in Your strength and wisdom today.

Psalm 90:17 (NLT) says, “May the Lord our God show us His approval and make our efforts successful.”

2. Autumn Power Soup.

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 chopped onion, 2 carrots, 1 celery stalk
  • 1 cup cubed butternut squash
  • 4 cups broth (chicken or vegetable)
  • ½ cup lentils or white beans
  • Herbs like thyme, sage, and a pinch of cinnamon

Simmer until everything is tender and serve warm. Oh man, just seeing this recipe makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. This soup supports immunity, balances hormones, and satisfies your hunger naturally. Isn’t that amazing! And each ingredient placed on the Earth just for you.

3. Spiced Pumpkin Protein Muffins.

  • 1 cup canned pumpkin
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ cup oats or almond flour
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon, nutmeg, and a dash of salt
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup or stevia to taste

Just Mix, scoop into muffin tins, and bake at 350°F for 20 minutes. These freeze well and make an amazing grab-and-go snack or breakfast.

Instead of saying, “I can’t have that,” we start saying, “I can enjoy this in peace and balance.” Healthy eating isn’t about restriction — it’s about stewarding our bodies and choices in a way that honors God.

Most Holy Father, thank You for Your good design for food and nourishment. Thank You for fruits, grains, and vegetables that bring healing to our bodies and peace to our minds. Help us honor You in our kitchens and our choices. Teach us to see food not as a burden or a battle, but as a blessing from Your hand. Let us eat to honor you Jesus. Fill our homes with joy, peace, self-discipline, gratitude, and health this season. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Hey everyone, I pray you're well today, and I pray this message blesses you. Today we're diving into one of my favorite topics, fall food that fuels both your body and your spirit. This time of year, it's easy to slip into comfort food mode.

Cool weather, casseroles, sweet treats, they can all feel comforting in the moment, but really heavy afterwards. But here's the truth, food was never meant to bring us guilt or exhaustion. It was designed by God for healing, nourishment, and joy.

So hang tight and let's dive in. Are you sick of trying diet after diet and not losing weight? Are you tired of doubting your ability to actually lose weight in a healthy way?

Do you wish you could find a laid out for you plan that will help you stay accountable to your goals? Hey friends, I'm Lindy Slayboss, Christian Fitness and Nutrition Coach. I gained 100 pounds in my late 20s and struggled for years to get it off.

So grab your pre-workout and let's chat. Don't forget, my one-day Christmas bootcamp kicks off December 2nd. But you have to be in my free community and you can join us at herweightlossmindset.com.

That's herweightlossmindset.com. Subscribe to my mailing list and I will send you the link to join us. Okay, so let's start with today's scripture.

It comes from Ezekiel chapter 47 verse 12. It says, fruit trees of all kinds will grow along both sides of the river. The leaves of these trees will never turn brown and fall, and there will always be fruit on their branches.

There will be a new crop every month, for they are watered by the river flowing from the temple. The fruit will be for food and the leaves for healing. Isn't that beautiful?

Can you picture it? To me, this verse paints a picture of God's abundance, how his provision through creation brings both food and healing. And we can heal ourselves through food.

Our nutrition isn't separate from our faith, it's part of it. Listen, we know God created all things. He created us so innately, and our bodies were created to glorify and honor him.

So today, we're going to explore three nourishing fall recipes to support your weight loss goals. Each is tied to a mindset, truth and a biblical truth to help you approach food with joy and peace this season.

So, the first recipe I want to share with you is a Harvest Breakfast Bowl, because today, we are fueling on purpose. So, we have to start with a good healthy morning breakfast.

So many women skip breakfast or grab something quick or sugary, but that sets up energy crashes and cravings for later. So, I want you to try this Harvest Breakfast Bowl. You're going to take a half a cup of cooked oats or quinoa.

You're going to add a small apple or a pear diced up, and then top with a tablespoon of chopped nuts, a sprinkle of cinnamon, and you can add a drizzle of almond butter. You can add some protein powder mixed in. You can add both.

And this combination of protein, fiber, and healthy fat is going to keep your blood sugar regulated and your mind super clear. So, you can focus on your purpose, not your hunger or your cravings.

So, as you eat your Harvest Breakfast Bowl, I want you to pair it with this morning prayer. Father, thank you for this food that fuels my purpose. Help me walk in your strength and wisdom today.

Amen. And when we shift our mindset to food is fuel for your calling, when you start your day with nourishment, you're saying, my mission matters enough to take care of me.

Psalm 90 17 says, May the Lord God show us his approval and make our efforts successful. Even your breakfast can be part of that success, because without starting on a healthy note, you're going to crash midday.

So the second recipe I want to share with you is autumn power soup that is all comfort without compromise. I don't know about you, but there's just something about soup that feels like a warm hug. But not all soup serves your goals.

So instead of a creamy or heavy version, I want you to try autumn power soup that's packed with fiber, flavor and vitamins. So you're going to take a tablespoon of olive oil and one chopped onion, two carrots and a celery stalk.

Then you're going to cube up a cup of butternut squash and four cups of broth, either chicken or vegetable, and then a half a cup of lentils or white beans. Then think about adding herbs like thyme, sage and a pinch of cinnamon.

So you're going to simmer everything until it's tender and serve it warm. Just seeing this recipe makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside. I actually brought a butternut squash home from the Amish grocery today, and I definitely cannot wait to make this.

So this soup is going to support immunity, it balances your hormones, and it satisfies your hunger naturally. Isn't that amazing? Each ingredient I just listed was placed on this earth just for you.

So let's connect it to our faith with this thought. Ezekiel's vision reminds us that God's provision flows continually. It says there will always be fruit on their branches.

And when we eat from what God has created, we're partnering with that design for renewal, replenishment, and serving the Lord who created you in His image. Isn't that incredible? So here's how we're going to shift our mindset.

Comfort doesn't have to mean compromise. Isn't that amazing? When you choose nourishing comfort foods, you remind yourself that God's comfort heals.

It doesn't numb. Incredible. So the last recipe I want to share with you are Spiced Pumpkin Protein Muffins.

Yes, these are grace in balance. So we're going to finish with something sweet because, yes, you can enjoy sweet foods in a way that still supports your goals. And you should.

And these are so amazing. So I want you to try these Spiced Pumpkin Protein Muffins. So you're going to take a can of canned pumpkin, two eggs, one cup oats or almond, half cup oats or almond flour, and one scoop of vanilla protein power.

Then you're going to add in a half teaspoon of cinnamon, nutmeg, and a dash of salt. And then a tablespoon of maple syrup or stevia to taste.

So you're just going to mix up all your ingredients, scoop these into your muffin tins, and bake them at 350 for 20 minutes. These are going to freeze well and make an amazing grab-and-go snack or breakfast.

Because we're not about eliminating food groups. We're just making better choices most of the time. And when we start to fuel our body this way, it changes us.

It heals us from the inside out. So think about this. God gives us freedom, but he also gives us wisdom, his wisdom.

And as Titus 212 says, his grace teaches us to live wisely and with devotion. So instead of saying, I can't have that, we start saying, I am going to enjoy this in peace and balance.

And then our mindset shifts to healthy eating isn't about restriction. It's about stewarding our bodies and choices in a way that honors God. We are reclaiming food as a gift from God, not a trap from guilt.

Yes! Can I get an amen? Most Holy Father, thank you for your good design for food and nourishment.

Thank you for fruits, grains, and vegetables that bring healing to our bodies and peace to our minds. Help us honor you in our kitchens and our choices. Teach us to see food not as a burden or a battle, but as a blessing from your hand.

Let us eat to honor you, Jesus. Fill our homes with joy, peace, self-discipline, gratitude, and health this season. It's in Jesus' name we pray.

Amen. So think about these few questions as you journal this week. First question, which of these fall recipes would you add to your weekly rhythm to bring more nourishment and joy?

One of them, two of them, all of them, I hope. And then how can you invite God into your meal prep and cooking this week? What are you going to cook?

And then what foods make you feel physically energized and spiritually aligned with your goals? Write them down. Focus on adding those to your plate the most.

My friend, your kitchen can be a place of worship. It should be a place of worship. Every meal you make with intention becomes an offering, not of perfection, but of love.

So cook with joy, eat with gratitude, and let God's nourishment flow through every part of your journey. You can do this. Hey, sis, I hope you enjoyed today's episode.

If so, would you take 30 seconds and share it with a friend? Also, please leave a quick review for the show on Apple Podcasts. It lights me up to know this podcast is helping you.

Okay, it's time to go make a protein shake and get my sweat on. No more standing in the kitchen waiting for motivation to appear. I will meet you back here for another episode.

God bless.
