Staying Consistent in Your Weight Loss Journey When Life Gets Busy
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." Galatians 6:9
Here are three ways to stay consistent when life gets busy:
1. Simplify Your Goals
When life feels full, the key isn’t doing more — it’s doing less but doing it well.
2. Anchor Your Day in Truth, Not Emotion
Busyness often stirs up stress, and stress leads to old habits.
Truth says:
- “Finally brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable- if anything is excellent or praiseworthy- think about such things.” (Philippians 4:8)
- “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were brought with a price so honor God with your bodies.” (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)
- “In Him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of Him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of His will, in order that we, who were the first to put our hope in Christ, might be for the praise of His glory.” (Ephesians 1:11)
3. Redefine What Success Looks Like
Sometimes, consistency looks like “just showing up.”
The enemy says “You’re slipping.”
God says, “You’re enough.”
When we stay faithful in the small things, God multiplies them.
Holy Father, thank You for walking beside us in every season — the calm ones and the chaotic ones. You see the women listening right now who feel tired, stretched, or overwhelmed. Remind us that You don’t measure us by perfection, but by persistence. Give us wisdom to simplify, strength to stay faithful, and peace to rest in Your timing. Help us remember that every small act of obedience matters to You. In Jesus’ name, amen.

So if you've been walking with me through this season, you know we've covered so much together from mindset and macros to managing emotions and trusting God through every step of our weight loss journey.
But today's episode might be one of the most important yet, because no matter how strong you start, there always comes a time when life gets busy, like daily, right?
Schedule changes, holidays are coming, your kids get sick, work gets demanding, and all those healthy rhythms that you've been building start to feel harder and harder.
So today we're going to talk about how to stay consistent when life gets chaotic, and how to hold on to your progress, your peace, and your purpose even when your days are not predictable.
So I can tell you that bringing home our baby girl after a failed adoption threw my routine into a complete loop. It took weeks to realize that the missing piece in my sanity was my morning routine. I was exhausted with our six-week-old baby.
I had no idea what I was doing, but the Lord kept reminding me to stick to the basics, wake up, talk to him, and open my Bible, and the rest would figure itself out later. So that's what I did.
And getting back to consistency in my morning time with Jesus led me back to my morning workout routine, and it's just progressed from there. So understand that the season that you're in may look different or hard, and we all experience those times.
But stay in prayer. Get up a few minutes early so you can pray and read the Bible. Because when we anchor ourselves in him and his truth, even when our consistency struggles, his truth, it still stands.

That's herweightlossmindset.com/framework. So today's verse comes from Galatians and it's one I share often from chapter 6 verse 9. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. What does that verse speak to you? So let's be clear about one thing before we even get started.
Consistency does not mean perfection. It means staying anchored and coming back to what matters most, which is Jesus, again and again and again. It means picking one to two things you can do right now and just sticking with those.
It means prioritizing what's important and letting go of what's not. Let the Lord fill you with His peace as you begin to remove the temptation to strive and try, and start to surrender. The holidays are approaching, right?
It's so easy to get caught up in saying yes to everything, and not focusing on the people around us or the actual reason for the season in the first place. I'm giving you permission right now to say no unless you ask the Lord and He says yes.
Today, we're going to unpack three ways to stay consistent when life gets busy. The first one, simplify your goals. When life feels full, the key is not doing more.
It's about doing less but doing it well. If you normally track every macro, go hit the gym five days a week, and prep every meal, that might not be realistic during a busy season. That's okay.
To be honest, if that's your focus without spending time with Jesus first, I think you need to re-prioritize and seek Him over what you feel is important. Because let's be real, our feelings rarely line up with God's truth.
So ask yourself, what are one to two things that matter most right now? Now, when I say one to two things, these should be after spending time with Jesus first each morning and getting your Bible.
So, maybe focusing on one to start if mornings with Jesus aren't your norm yet.
But a few other examples could be getting enough protein at each meal, or moving your body three times per week, or one to two, wherever works, and then making sure you're drinking enough water.
So, the point is to simplify your plan so it is sustainable and makes sense for you. You are not failing by scaling back. You're not failing by scaling back.
Do I need to say it again? You're not failing by scaling back. You're being wise, a steward of your time.
Because God doesn't expect perfection, he doesn't want perfection. He was the only perfect one. But he does honor faithfulness.
He honors obedience, and he honors surrender. Next, I want you to think about anchoring your day in truth and not your feelings and emotions. Busyness often stirs up stress, and stress leads to old and healthy habits.
You might find yourself skipping meals, grabbing fast food, or turning to comfort food again. That's when it's time to pause, pray, and anchor yourself in truth.
God's Truth says, Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable, if anything is excellent or praiseworthy, think about such things. Philippians 4, 8.
1 Corinthians 6, 19, and 20 says, Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own, you are bought with a price, so honor God with your body.
Ephesians 1, 11 says, In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, in order that we, who were the first to put our hope in Christ, might be for
the praise of his glory. So even if you have five minutes in the morning, open your Bible, journal, speak that truth over your day. Because when your mind is steady, your habits are going to follow.
Maybe you need to ask the Lord to put a verse on your heart. Do that and I promise he will. Something else you can do is redefine what success looks like.
Because sometimes consistency looks like just showing up. Maybe you didn't hit your exact plan, but you chose a salad over takeout. Maybe you walked for 10 minutes instead of skipping moving altogether.
Maybe you drink water and prayed through a craving. Those are successes. You're learning to live a healthy life in real life, not just when everything is perfect.
That is where true transformation happens. That is the transformation. The enemy loves to whisper, you're slipping, but God says you're growing.
When we stay faithful in the small things, God is going to multiply them. You made it through that episode. How do you feel?
Take a deep breath and think about one area of your health or habits that feels really hard to keep up with right now and ask yourself, what's one thing I can do today? Is there anything you need to let go of?
And how can I invite God into that moment? And remember, this isn't about starting over, it's about continuing with grace right where you are. So write those things down, the one thing you can do today and inviting God into the moment.
Holy Father, thank you for walking beside us in every season, the calm ones and the chaotic ones. You see the woman listening right now who feel tired, stretched out or overwhelmed.
Remind us that you don't measure us by perfection, but by who we are in you. Give us wisdom to simplify, strength to stay faithful, and peace to rest in your timing. Help us remember that every small act of obedience matters to you.
Thank you Father for loving us. In Jesus' name, Amen. So this week I want you to simplify your plan and write down two things that are going to help you stay steady.
Maybe it's drinking your water and praying before your meals. Maybe it's journaling instead of emotional eating or going for a walk around the block. Whatever it is, commit to it and let God bless your consistency.
Keep showing up. Keep coming back. Keep saying a prayer.
Keep trusting God. Keep moving forward. One faithful step at a time.
