Lindy Schlabach - Christian Mindset & Weight Loss Coach Season 2 Episode 121

Colossians 3:23 reminds us, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord.”

Flexible eating allows you to honor God, stick to macros, and enjoy life without guilt.

here are a few things to help you get started in your swaps.

  1. Plan Swaps Ahead – Identify 2–3 options for each meal.

  2. Track Flexibly – Focus on balance, not perfection.

  3. Prep Flexible Ingredients – Keep proteins, grains, and veggies ready.

  4. Pray Before Eating – Ask God to guide your choices.

  5. Be Kind to Yourself – Flexible eating reduces guilt and supports consistency.

    Example swap plan:
  • Breakfast: Oats or yogurt

  • Lunch: Chicken salad or chickpea salad

  • Snack: Apple with peanut butter or protein shake

Here are a few Questions to think about as you pray through your plan:

  • How can I make my meals flexible this week? Lord lead me.

  • What swaps will help me stay consistent without stress? Father give me what I need, not what’s comfortable.

  • How can I honor God in each choice I make? Thank you Lord for the courage to trust You!

“Lord, thank You for the flexibility You give in life. Help us honor You with balanced eating, without guilt or rigidity. I don’t want to make food an idol in my life Lord, show me how to try new foods without staying stuck because it’s comfortable. Guide our choices, forgive us when we forget and bless our bodies. Amen.”

Hey, and you're welcome back.

So I know we've been talking a lot about macros lately, and this gets me really excited.

One, because I've kind of gotten off the macro train, and I am ready this week to get back on that.

And so as I talk to you today, I'm also going to be encouraging myself.

Because I know for me, I'm a spirit of habit, but sometimes after that habit is like a habit for so long, I'm over it and then I quit and walk away, and I don't want to do that.

I've gained some fluff around my midsection over the past couple of weeks and I'm not digging it.

I'm ready to get back on my macro plan.

Summer is officially over and I'm ready to get onto the next thing.

I don't know about you, I love fall.

It's one of my favorite times of year.

I love to walk outside.

I love to open my sliding door in the morning and drink my coffee with my sweatshirt on and it's just such a cozy time of year.

But today we're going to talk about flexible eating with macros, macronutrients.

We're talking about these a lot lately.

If you don't remember what a macro is, go back to the September, I think, 15th or 11th episode and check that out.

So I want you to think about flexibility within these macros.

So life is not meant to be rigid.

And your approach to healthy eating shouldn't be either.

We know when we get so rigid in our meal plan, it becomes an idol in our life and we don't want that.

So Colossians 3.23 reminds us, whatever you do, work at it with all your heart.

As working for the Lord.

If you have not read through Colossians, I highly recommend you go read through that book.

It's very quick, but there are so many incredible nuggets.

I read through that book this summer and it just, it was such an encouragement to me in so many different areas of my life.

So go back and read Colossians and let's read 3.23 again.

It says, whatever you do, work at it with all your heart as working for the Lord.

So how can we apply that to our macro eating in our life?

We can remember that flexible eating allows us to honor God.

It allows us to stick to our macros and enjoy life without guilt, without shame, and with condemnation.

So stay tuned.

We're going to talk about some macro and meal swaps and how we can implement some flexible eating for a real life.

So today we're talking about flexible eating for real life macros and meal swaps.

So meal swaps let us stay consistent without being rigid.

I know for me lately I've been so bored with the same old same old.

I've just quit following my macro plan and my body is taking the hit.

So this message is just as much for me as it is for you.

Switching it up keeps things fresh and it helps us stay focused on the prize, which is letting God lead and encourage our choices.

As hard as that can be, we have to break through these triggers and unhealthy mindsets that keep us stuck in our macro focused meal plan.

So here are a few swaps that you can make to keep things exciting.

So let's swap chicken for tofu, let's swap rice for quinoa, or Greek yogurt for cottage cheese.

So here are three reasons that it's important to switch things up.

It reduces boredom, it supports real life schedules, let's be real, and it builds long term sustainability.

We don't want to make food an idol in our lives, right?

No, of course we don't.

But we all get tired of the same old thing.

So this allows us to connect with the Holy Spirit and ask him to lead us to new things.

Do you remember my oatmeal story from a couple weeks ago?

Here are a few things to help you get started in your meal swaps.

The first one, plan your swaps ahead.

Identify two to three options for each meal.

And then track your flexibility.

Focus on balance, remember, not perfection.

And then prep your flexible ingredients.

Keep your proteins, grains, and your vegetables prepped, cooked, ready, and stored separately.

And then pray before eating.

Ask God to guide your choices, and he will.

And the last step, be kind to yourself.

Flexible eating reduces guilt and it supports consistency.

Remember, we're focusing on consistent habits, not perfection.

So here are a couple examples of a swap plan.

So breakfast, oats or yogurt.

Lunch, chicken salad or chickpea salad.

And then a snack, maybe an apple with peanut butter or a protein shake.

So here are a few questions to think about as you pray through your plan for the week.

One, how can I make my meals flexible this week?

Lord, lead me.

What swaps will help me stay consistent without stressing out about meal prep?

Father, give me what I need, not what's comfortable or what I've been doing.

The last question, how can I honor God in each choice that I make?

Thank you, Lord, for the courage to trust you.

Listen, this is a quick message today, but let's focus on the simplicity of flexible eating for real life.

We can easily make some meal swaps, make a list of the things that maybe you haven't eaten in a while that you miss, start adding those to your menu for this week.

Chop, prep, cook, and eat away.

Lord, thank you for the flexibility that you give us in life.

Help us to honor you with balanced eating, without guilt or rigidity.

I don't want to make food an idol in my life, Lord.

Show me how to try new foods without staying stuck because it's comfortable.

Guide my choices, forgive me when I forget, and please bless this body.

Amen.

Hey sis, I hope you enjoyed today's episode.
