Her Weight Loss Mindset | Lose Weight, Meal Prep, Healthy Habits, and Workouts
The Mindset Shift You Need for Long-Term Success in Your Weight Loss Journey
Most weight loss plans fail not because the plan itself is bad — but because we’re operating from the wrong mindset.
We try to “fix” our bodies to feel worthy.
We punish ourselves with restriction.
We set unrealistic goals, miss a day, and then spiral with guilt.
That’s not sustainable — and more importantly, it’s not biblical.
Romans 12:2 says: “Let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.”
Lasting change doesn’t begin with a new workout plan. It begins with a renewed mind.
Galatians 5:1 reminds us: “Christ has truly set us free. Now make sure that you stay free…”
Don’t trade your spiritual freedom for food rules or body shame.
Here are three mindset shifts you can make today:
1. Progress over Perfection
2. Identity Before Action
3. Grace Fuels Change Not Guilt
Thank you Father for new mercies each morning and that I am not defined by my weight but by being Your daughter. Lead me Lord, help me to seek You in this journey, it isn’t always easy, but I know You’re there to lead me, give me the strength to walk in Holy Spirit obedience and thank You for picking me up when I fall. It’s in Your Holy Name I pray, Amen.

Good morning, sweet sister. Welcome back to the show. If you've ever felt like you're stuck in a cycle of starting and stopping, trying and failing, feeling like no matter how hard you work, it's never good enough, this episode is for you.
Today, we're diving deep into the one mindset shift that can completely change the way you approach your weight loss and wellness journey. And that's moving from performance-based pressure to grace-based progress.
Because here's the truth, God never calls you to be perfect. He called you to be faithful. Let's break free from perfectionism together and walk in the freedom that Christ offers.
Are you ready? Let's go. Let's start with a tough truth.
Most weight loss plans fail, not because the plan itself is bad, but because we're operating from the wrong mindset. We try to fix our bodies to feel worthy. We punish ourselves with restriction.
We set unrealistic goals. We miss a day and then spiral with guilt. And that is just not sustainable.
And more importantly, it's not biblical. Are you sick of trying diet after diet and not losing weight? Are you tired of doubting your ability to actually lose weight in a healthy way?
Do you wish you could find a laid out for you plan that will help you stay accountable to your goals? Hey, friend, I'm Lindy Schlabach, Christian Fitness & Nutrition Coach. I gained 100 pounds in my late 20s and struggled for years to get it off.
So grab your pre-workout and let's chat. Today we're reading from the NLT. Romans 12 2 says, let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.
I'm going to read it again. Let God transform you into the new person by changing the way you think. What does that tell us?
It says lasting change doesn't begin with a new workout plan. It begins with a renewed mind. So what's the difference between performance and progress?
Performance mindset says, I have to earn results. It says I need to get it right every time. Performance says my worth is tied to what I weigh or how I eat.
I am guilty of all of those things. Are you? But the progress mindset says I'm on a journey.
It says God is with me even when I stumble. It reminds me that every small step, seemingly small step, it matters. You were never meant to perform your way into health.
You were created to walk in freedom. We read in Galatians 5, verses 1, it says Christ has truly set us free. Now make sure that you stay free.
We are not trading our spiritual freedom for food rules or body shame. There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. So I want to share with you three mindset shifts that you can make right now.
The first one, progress over perfection. We hear it, we see it on T-shirts, but do we really live it? We have to let go of the all or nothing thinking.
I've talked to you about this a million times. There is no all or nothing. Success is showing up, not being flawless.
Consistency, one imperfect day does not erase a week of growth. One imperfect week does not erase the mindset shift that you're changing. All or nothing doesn't work.
If you have a bad day or a bad week, it's going to happen. Do your best and forget the rest. One of my favorite trainers, Tony Horton, that is his mantra.
Do your best and forget the rest and let God lead. The second thing, identity before action. Please, we can't chase the identity of a quote unquote healthy person.
Let's claim it in Christ before that. You're already loved. You're already worthy.
You are already chosen. You care for your body because of who you are, not to become someone better.
If we can't love ourselves today in the body that we're in, no matter how far from our goal we are, we're never going to love ourselves at our goal weight because it's not about a weight. It's not about what your body looks like.
It's about your identity and the one who created you. The third mindset shift, grace fuels change, not guilt. Chain might push you temporarily, but it never sustains long-term change.
But grace gives us the strength to get back up and keep going. Because you don't have to earn God's approval, you already have it, and you're operating on His fruit, not your own. So, I want to share a quick story from one of my clients.
Let's just call her Sarah. Sarah used to weigh herself every day, and she let those numbers dictate her mood. She was on and off diets, obsessed with messing up, and would quit anytime she felt like she failed.
But we started shifting her mindset. She stopped weighing herself for a month. She focused on adding healthy habits instead of subtracting foods.
And she journaled a scripture every morning to reframe her identity and remind her who she truly is. And by the end of 30 days, she lost inches, she slept better, she had peace, and she wasn't chasing numbers anymore. She was chasing freedom.
So I'd like to share two things you can do today to apply what you've learned in this podcast. The first one, journal this. How would I approach my health if I believed I was already fully loved and accepted by God?
I'll read it again. How would I approach my health if I believed I was already fully loved and accepted by God? And then write out your honest thoughts.
And the second thing, every morning, you're going to repeat this out loud. I'm not starting over. I am moving forward with grace.
I am not starting over. I am moving forward by grace. I don't care if you've taken two years or five years or 10 years off your weight loss journey.
You're not starting over. You're moving forward by grace. You're taking one step in faith, trusting that God's going to give you exactly what you need because He will.
Thank you, Most Holy Father, for new mercies each morning, and that I am not defined by my weight, but by being your daughter. Lead me, Lord. Help me to seek you in this journey.
It is not always easy, but I know you're there to lead me. Please, Father, give me the strength to walk in Holy Spirit obedience, and thank you for picking me up when I fall. It's in your holy name I pray.
Amen. Hey, sis, I hope you enjoyed today's episode. If so, would you take 30 seconds and share it with a friend?
Also, please leave a quick review for the show on Apple Podcasts. It lights me up to know this podcast is helping you. Okay, it's time to go make a protein shake and get my sweat on.
No more standing in the kitchen waiting for motivation to appear. I will meet you back here for another episode. God bless.
