Her Weight Loss Mindset | Lose Weight, Meal Prep, Healthy Habits, and Workouts
"I Don’t Have Time to Be Healthy” — The Lie Keeping You Stuck
Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NLT): “For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven.”
You don’t need more time — you need clearer priorities. We all have the same 24 hours in a day and it always shocks me that the most successful people you meet make time for exercise and food prep. Why is that? I would guess a few factors are keeping us stuck, scrolling social media being one of them, here are a few others.
What keeps moms stuck:
- Waiting for the “perfect” time
- Thinking health must be an hour-long workout or elaborate meal prep
- Believing health is selfish
3 WAYS TO TAKE BACK YOUR TIME
- Time-track for 2 days: Where’s the scroll hole? In the BWLF we do a social audit and learn how to time block, this helps us organize our time through the day and see where open spots are we may miss.
- Anchor habits to something you already do. Cleaning daily? Take an extra second to work in a squat. Playing with the littles on the floor? Do some crunches or leg ups, push-ups or stretches.
- Redefine success: small obedience > big effort. Obedience over outcome, here we go again! Honoring what the Holy Spirit told you to do, that’s HUGE, celebrate it. We’re not focused on major weight loss and the scale's definition of who we are. We’re focusing on dying to self and living for Christ and there’s no mention of a scale or your weight in the bible. Focus on Him, let Him lead.
PRAYER
God, help me see my time through your eyes, give me the courage to have tough conversations with myself and help me make time for the things You’ve called me to. Show me how to steward my time with intention and grace and be present with the people in the moments I’m in. Help me to remove the urge to scroll mindlessly, I know it’s a waste of time and isn’t helping me reach my God-given goals. Thank you Father, Amen.

So, today we're going to talk about the lie that I don't have time to be healthy and what could be keeping you stuck.
And this one gets me.
I have heard this lie for years as a weight loss and nutrition coach.
And to be honest, I used it for myself for about a decade, probably more.
So today we're going to be exposing one of the biggest lies that keep Christian moms from taking care of their health.
What is that lie?
I just don't have time.
So how can we reframe this very limited thinking that's keeping us stuck in an unwanted cycle of defeat in your weight loss journey?
Today we're going to expose the lies versus truth in three ways to take back control of your time and your thought process about that time.
Are you sick of trying diet after diet and not losing weight?
Are you tired of doubting your ability to actually lose weight in a healthy way?
Do you wish you could find a laid out for you plan that will help you stay accountable to your goals?
Hey friends, I'm Lindy Schlabach, Christian Fitness & Nutrition Coach.
I gained 100 pounds in my late 20s and struggled for years to get it off.
So grab your pre-workout and let's chat.
I want to invite you to the Biblical Weight Loss Framework.
We take a 90 day approach to weight loss God's way.
And I know that this is really hard to even consider like one more weight loss program, but this is not a weight loss program.
This is really learning to get in touch with the Holy Spirit in your life and break the chains of traumas and triggers and all of these things that are keeping you stuck in your weight loss journey.
And then actually having a tangible tactical approach to weight loss that is not food elimination or diet culture.
It's eating the things that you want, just learning how.
It's learning how to implement exercise routines and just a myriad of things.
It's a 90-day program.

So my husband and I adopted a little girl.
We brought her home about seven months ago.
And when we first brought her into our home, it was a constant whirlwind.
We only found out about her 15 hours before we brought her home.
I didn't have nine months to prepare.
I had 15 hours.
The Sunday before, we had had a failed adoption and had given away all of our baby stuff.
So we were starting over in more ways than one.
She was six weeks old and between nap schedules and dishes and laundry and trying to find a way to get some work in.
Like, I know your calendar feels full.
I get it.
But what if health isn't something that you have to make time for?
What if it's something that lives within you?
So in Ecclesiastes 3, Chapter 3, Verse 1, in the NLT, we read, for everything there is a season, a time for every activity under the sun.
So listen, I want to be very loving to you today, but I want to be very honest.
You don't need more time.
You need clearer priorities and probably some better time management.
We all have the same 24 hours in a day, and it always shocks me that the most successful people that you meet in the world make time for exercise.
They make time for food prep.
Why is that?
So I would guess a few factors are probably keeping you stuck.
Scrolling social media being one of them, here are possibly a few others.
You're waiting for the perfect time.
Maybe you're thinking that health must be an hour-long workout or elaborate meal prep.
Maybe you're believing the lie that being healthy is selfish.
But what is the truth?
The truth is that you can honor God with your body in the season that you're in as it works for you and bring prayerful about what you do in limiting social media scrolling.
That's going to free up time to get in a 15-minute walk or bust out a quick workout.
What else is true?
It's true that you deserve to feel your best.
We do that when we are healthy on the inside and the outside.
That happens with spending our time intentionally, delegating, asking for help when we need it.
I want to share with you three ways to take back your time as it relates to your health journey.
Step 1, time track for two days.
Where's the scroll hole?
In the Biblical Weight Loss Framework, we do a social media audit and learn how to time block.
This helps us organize our time through the day and see where open spots are that we might miss.
Step 2 is we're going to anchor our habits to something that you already do.
Are you cleaning daily?
Take an extra second to work in a squat.
Are you playing with your little ones on the floor?
Do some crunches or some leg ups, push ups, or stretches.
There are always things that you can do within the things that you're already doing.
Step 3, redefine success, small obedience over big effort.
I say it all the time, obedience over outcome.
Honoring what the Holy Spirit told you to do is huge.
Celebrate it.
It's about the seemingly small steps that add up to big results.
We're not focused on major weight loss and the skills definition of who we are.
We're focusing on dying to self and living for Christ.
There's no mention of the scale or weight loss in the Bible.
Focus on Him and let Him lead.
There is no perfect time.
We're not promised tomorrow.
Worry not for tomorrow.
Today has enough worries of his own.
We read about that in scripture.
There is no perfect time.
There is no all or nothing.
There is one thing that we practice today so that we can implement one that one small change.
We practice it for three weeks, four weeks until we get it down.
But the lies keeping you stuck that there is a perfect time or that you have to do an hour long something or that being healthy is selfish, quite the opposite.
When we don't make time to be healthy inside and out, when we don't make time to wake up early before our kids so that we can get in the word and pray and journal and have some time to ourselves with your Holy Father, he wants to lead and guide and direct you.
He wants to break the chains that are keeping you stuck in these lies that come from the pit of hell.
The truth is the Lord needs us to be healthy so that we can walk out the Great Commission.
I'm not saying you have to fly to wherever and serve in big missions.
Your mission is where you live, work, and play.
And maybe you're a stay-at-home mom like me who's raising your child.
Your child needs you to be healthy.
Your husband needs you to be healthy.
Your mission needs you to be healthy.
The Lord needs you to be healthy because it is the call to go out and make disciples as we go.
And when we're unhealthy, when we're spending time at the doctor, when we're constantly in these negative mindsets about who we are or our body, we cannot truly live out the purpose that He has placed in our lives.
Lies keeping us stuck is not just about our weight loss, it's about our eternal purpose.
It's about going out and sharing the gospel in a world that needs to hear the gospel.
But when we are so self-focused and obsessed with weight loss or what we're not eating or the next diet or the next weight loss program, we're not able to fully walk out what God needs us to do in this life.
And it's not lose weight or have a certain number on the scale or wear a certain pan size or fit into the next cutest fashion.
Trust me, I think about those things too.
I'm in day one or day two of a three-day detox right now.
Like the struggle has been real.
I have been eating ridiculous things for the last couple of months.
And I have felt terrible.
I don't want to go outside and play with Natalie.
It's like, get your life together, Lindy.
My life is not about my next meal.
My life is about raising up my daughter and showing her what it means to be healthy inside and out.
And that means letting the Holy Spirit lead my choices.
And it's the same for you.
So I want you to pray about the lie keeping you stuck.
I want you to pray that Psalm 139 verse.
Lord, show me the ways that I am stuck and reveal to me what is offensive to you and help me to live my life according to your will, not focused on food or a diet or weight.
Or maybe you're in the opposite.
Maybe you're just so over all of it that you've allowed yourself to go to a very unhealthy place, physically, emotionally, mentally.
Ask Him to reveal those things to you, the chains that you need to break.
It's time to get moving.
It's time to get up.
It's time to put your phone down, stop wasting time on social media, and go look in the mirror and remind yourself who you are.
You are a beautiful chosen child of the Most High God.
He died for you.
He loves you in your mess, but he doesn't want you to live there.
He wants you to let him do the work in yourself that only he can do.
It's not about you trying more, it's about you surrendering more.
And this is where I struggle, and I think most of us do with women.
I think there's a certain sense of control that we want to, you know, have this and count every calorie and, you know, hit our step goal.
And that's not what God calls us to.
This week he's calling me to not work out, to not go for walks.
First of all, it's 100 degrees outside, but my body just needs to rest.
I need to take a week off of workouts.
I need to stretch.
What do you need to do?
Maybe you need to get up and work out.
Maybe you're saying, Oh, God loves me as I am.
Of course he does, but he doesn't want you to be healthy, relying on medication.
That's not the call.
The call is to walk in Holy Spirit obedience.
Heavenly Father, help me see my time through your eyes.
Give me the courage to have tough conversations with myself and help me to make time for the things that you've called me to.
Show me, Father, how to steward my time with intention and grace and be present with the people in the moments that I'm in.
Help me to remove the urge to scroll mindlessly.
I know it's a waste of time and it isn't helping me reach my God-given goals.
Thank you, Lord, for your unending grace and mercy.
Thank you for the opportunity to try again in the next moment.
Lead me, Lord, to what it is that you have for me.
Thank you.
I love you.
Amen.
