Struggling to Find the Energy to Live Healthy? 3 Steps to More Energy Today!
Isaiah 40:29 says “He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless.”
I’d like to challenge you to consider where you may be leaking energy, leaking energy comes from unhealthy practices such as:
- Mental clutter
- Emotional weight (guilt, shame, stress)
- Overcommitment
- Do you find yourself struggling with any or ALL of these?
3 Ways to Redirect Your Energy:
- Create boundaries around time + attention= Pray for discernment, asking God where and with whom you should be spending time.
- Fuel your body with what gives, not drains (start with hydration + protein)- what fills your cup? What fuels you? What do you need to feed yourself through your mouth but also through your heart? Find a few things that give you energy and focus on those. Pray for strength to remove anything God has led you to remove and find peace knowing He’s in control.
- Ask the Holy Spirit to fill what’s empty — daily.

There are so many things through the day.
I find myself hurrying from here to there.
The baby wanted me to hold her, but the laundry needed switched 20 minutes ago.
I haven't eaten and the bed still isn't made.
Some days I'm ready for a nap by 9 a.m.
Maybe you keep saying, I have no energy, I've been there, but maybe it's not gone.
Maybe it's just being spent in all the wrong places, doing all the things that probably could wait instead of doing the things you know God has called you to do.
So, let's talk about how to reclaim your God-given energy.
Isaiah 49 from the NLT says, He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless.
Oh man, think about that.
He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless.
Are we relying on God's power and God's strength through the day?
Are we relying on Holy Spirit Discernment to tell us where to go, what to do and how to spend our time?
I know I struggle there.
I've talked to so many people that are like, you know, enjoy the time, the age that your baby is now because, you know, she just wants to be snuggled and held and she just wants to be with me and so many times I find myself like, oh, I've got to do this or I've got to do that.
And God sometimes stops me like, you've waited 40 years to be a mom, like, sit and be still with your baby.
So I'd like to challenge you to consider where you may be leaking energy.
Leaking energy comes from unhealthy practices such as mental clutter.
Oh, my goodness, where do we find mental clutter?
Scrolling social media, usually, emotional weight.
We struggle with guilt and shame.
We're focused on so many things that don't matter.
Stress just forces us to leak energy.
Leaking energy comes from overcommitment.
Are you overcommitting?
Have you prayed and asked God if all of the things that you're involved in are where He needs you?
Just because somebody says yes to you doesn't mean that you have to say yes.
Do you find yourself struggling with one of these or maybe all of these?
I'm going to share with you a few ways to redirect your energy.
So I want you to prayerfully create boundaries around your time and attention.
I want you to pray for discernment, asking God where and with whom you should be spending your time.
So often we overcommit without seeking God's direction and soon we're burned out and unfulfilled.
It's okay to say no, or you know what?
Hey, thank you for considering me, but I need some time to pray over this.
God has called me to a season of rest, so I need to see if this is where He'd have me go.
Or if you know that this is not a place that God needs you to go or you just don't want to, you can just say, you know what?
I'm in a season of rest right now.
I just can't take on any other commitments.
People will understand that.
They will respect that.
I remember many years ago when I first rededicated my life back to God and I was involved in my church and I wanted to be involved in my church and my pastor asked me, you know, to do be on these committees and things like that.
And I said yes to everyone because I thought, oh, you know, it's church.
I should say yes.
And one day I was burnout.
I wasn't enjoying any of it.
And I was in prayer and I was like, Lord, why am I so frustrated?
And he's like, well, first of all, you didn't consult with me to see if any of these things were what you should be involved in.
And that just really hit me.
Like, we're going to experience burnout.
We're going to experience mental clutter.
We're going to experience emotional weight and guilt and shame and stress if we are not letting him lead our commitments.
It's no wonder we don't have any energy.
Step two, fuel your body with what gives, not drains.
Start with water.
Start with rest.
Start with getting your 25 to 30 grams of protein per meal.
What fills your cup?
I love to sit in the morning and have a hot cup of coffee while I read God's word and pray.
I love to exercise.
I love to walk my dog.
Cooking with the hubs fuels me up.
Going for boat rides or being outside by the water.
Think about some things that fuel you.
What are some things that you used to enjoy doing?
Maybe riding your bike, going for walks, having a pedicure or massage.
Find a few things that give you energy and focus on those.
It's okay to take time for yourself if you need to replenish your energy stores.
And ask God to remove anything that has taken your peace from you.
And then have the strength to remove them if He leads you to that and then have peace knowing that He's in control.
Last step, step three, I want you to ask the Holy Spirit to fill what's empty every single day.
Starting every day in prayer and in the Word is the best way to refuel your lost energy stores.
I know after a tough night's sleep with a babe or a morning where I'm up earlier than I'd like can completely zap me.
But waking up and praying and thanking God for life and breath and the opportunity to do what He's called me to do always refills my cup.
Spending time in prayer while I'm sipping on my coffee, reading the Word, I'm reading in Colossians right now.
Like I feel like we don't talk about the Book of Colossians enough.
There's only four chapters and they are just packed full of God's goodness.
Now is the Holy Spirit to fill what's empty every single day.
Sometimes you might need to ask him 100 times a day.
And on the days where you feel like you have a lot of energy and you feel like things are going, you know, like you feel really good, ask yourself, what's different today?
What did I do today?
You're probably doing things that add to you, that give, not drain.
So take a inventory of the mental clutter in your life or any emotional weight or guilt or shame or stress that you're feeling.
And then write down the areas that you have committed to, the things that you've committed to, and pray over them.
Pray over the mental clutter.
Pray over the guilt and shame and stress that maybe you don't even realize you're experiencing and ask God to reveal that to you.
Remember that Psalm 139, 23 and 24, search in me God and know my heart.
Test me and know my anxious thoughts, see if there's any offensive weight in me and lead me in the way of our lasting.
That is a great way to recognize the energy leaks in your life.
Pray over them, release them, and find peace knowing that God will give you what you need.
So I want you to start with one of these tomorrow.

Heavenly Father, show me where I'm leaking energy today.
Forgive me for not consulting you before saying yes to everything and anything, and thinking that busy is better.
Lead me to where you'd have me go and direct me to what truly matters.
Strengthen me, Lord.
I want to steward my body and my time well.
I love you so much, and I ask these things in Jesus' name.
Amen.
