Weight Loss Without Guilt! Why God's Grace Covers Every Attempt

Lindy Schlabach - Christian Mindset & Weight Loss Coach Season 1 Episode 70

Where He guides, He also provides. Find comfort in that beloved. He sees you and loves you and whatever season you're finding yourself in, a valley or mountaintop, know that He will work it all for your good and His glory if you let Him.

Weight Loss with Jesus is just SO MUCH more fun! There's no shame or condemnation, just love and encouragement. Here are a few ways you can lose weight without guilt:

1. Embrace the season you're in and trust that whatever it looks like, He's got you.

2. You don't have to starve! To be honest, if you continue to starve yourself you'll continue to reproduce fat cells and move farther from your goal. Eat more food! Lose more weight! In a healthy way!

3. One step- One choice- One day at a time. All in doesn't work, I've experienced it personally and have worked with women in the same boat. Just do the next right thing our pastor used to say. It's the same with your weight loss journey. If you have an off choice, just make the next right one. Grace my friend. Grace covers all! Even too much chocolate.

2 Corinthians 12:9, did you look it up? Go do it right now and ask Him to speak a word over your life today.

Are you sick of trying diet after diet and NOT losing weight?

In this podcast, I'll teach you how to:

  • • Lose Weight in a Way that honors God without obsessing about the scale
    • Meal Plan and Prep for Your Family
    • Follow a MACRO based plan that allows you to eat the foods you love.
    • Recognize and pray through triggers keeping you stuck.
    • I’ll help you Plan your week and schedule your self-care time.
    • Cultivate a spirit of self-discipline in your workouts you actually enjoy.

It's time to give God your health journey and watch Him make you new, from the inside, OUT.

Today, we are going to talk about weight loss without wilt.

Why God's grace covers every attempt.

Oh my word, I have lost and gained and lost and gained over my lifetime and it is just exhausting.

But specifically, just this past summer, I had reached my 94-pound weight loss goal, and I've gained a few pounds since bringing baby home, and it really started to mess with my head.

What are the reminders that God continues to plant in your head?

What are the things that he continues to say to you, that still small voice that gives you peace or comfort, or that gentle reminder that he's there?

Listen, we might feel one way about our body, we might add on a few pounds during a certain season of our life or a certain time of the month.

The words we speak over ourselves, the way we get in the word and seek God's will, the way we pray and speak to him and ask him to fill us with his truth, these are the things that are going to help us continue in our weight loss journey without guilt because his grace doesn't cover every attempt.

So get a pen.

I want you to write these things down.

I'm going to give you a couple of steps.

We're going to talk through them.

Step one, embrace the season that you're in.

Maybe God is calling you to sit and be still, or maybe he's calling you to move intentionally.

But wherever you find yourself today, you have to pray for strength and you have to embrace it, and know where you are is where he needs you.

Because even in a valley, he's going to work through you, and knowing he's working everything for your good and his glory will help you continue to stay the course.

Keep coming back to this podcast.

Keep listening to this message.

Join Biblical Weight Loss Framework.

Keep in prayer.

Stay in the Word.

Devotionals are great, my friends, but get in the Word.

Open your Bible.

Feel the pages.

Ask him to lead you.

You have time if he's calling you to be still.

I should be spending a lot more time in my Bible than I am.

I find myself scrolling mindlessly on social media.

It's absolutely ridiculous.

Embrace the season that you're in.

Maybe he's calling you to move, and you don't know how to move, but he will tell you if you lean into prayer.

He will show you exactly where you need to go.

Another way that we're going to have weight loss without guilt, you don't have to starve yourself.

I hope you find freedom in that.

Listen, to be honest, if you do starve yourself, you're only going to recycle your fat cells.

So unless you want more fat on your body, I think I'd start to eat like your life depends on it, because guess what?

It does.

The average woman who weighs 200 pounds and is not exercising requires a minimum of 2,000 calories a day to lose weight.

When I was at 250 pounds and I was going to the gym multiple times a week, I honestly should have been eating about 2,500 calories a day, probably about 2,800 calories.

I was eating 1,200 calories because that's what my fitness pal told me to eat.

This is not the truth.

At rest, on average, a female will burn 1,500 calories.

You have to be eating at least that to recoup that, to give your body the energy that she needs.

You don't need 10,000 steps a day.

That's not doable for a lot of people, and quite honestly, it's not realistic.

5,000 to 6,000 steps a day is plenty.

And grace on the days that don't go as planned.

And then we're going to celebrate the seemingly tiny wins that you do have each day.

Did you wake up and not snarl at your spouse the way you sometimes snarl?

Did you wake up and drink water before your coffee?

Did you say a prayer before you looked at your phone?

We need to celebrate those tiny things, because it's the tiny things that we become consistent with that add up to big results.

Motivation does not last.

If you don't heal the junk in your brain before your son's wedding and you lose 30 pounds and you rock your wedding dress and the wedding night comes and then you just eat all of the food and you wake up in the morning and you feel like, who?

That is not the point.

Yes, you're going to have times of feasting, but you're also going to have times of fasting.

And we're not going to have times of gluttony because gluttony is a sin.

Self-pity is also a sin.

And we know what the Bible says about idle hands.

They're the devil's handiwork.

Consistency, celebrate your wins.

Step three, I want you to take one step today further than you did yesterday.

Make one better choice.

Eat one healthy meal.

Doing one thing a day and then adding one thing the next day, it's compound interest.

It's going to go a heck of a lot further than you're trying to go all in.

And then you have one rough day and you think, why did I even do this?

This is failure.

Why do I even try again?

I'm just going to lose this weight.

You speak those things and that is what your body feels.

That is what your truth becomes.

We're not speaking the lies over ourselves, our bodies, or our journeys anymore.

If you have seven days in a week and you nail your meal plan, your water, your workout, you do all the right things on one day, celebrate that because that is the reality for most people.

Most people, if they can make a couple of good choices a day or even one good choice a day a couple of times a week, that is what we should be celebrating.

All or nothing is not realistic.

It does not win.

It sets people up for failure.

It gives us unrealistic expectations for ourselves, and we fail, and then we build up this negative mindset, and then it's like this constant shame spiral.

We have to bust out of it.

His grace is sufficient.

His power is made perfect in your weakness.

Read 2 Corinthians chapter 12 verse 9.

I have it here for you.

Let me find it.

But he said to me, My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.

Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.

That's Paul writing to the Corinthian Church.

My grace is sufficient.

My power is made perfect in weakness.

So Paul is going to boast all the more gladly about his weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on him.

Isn't that what we want for our lives?

I know that's what I want for my life.

We take pride in being strong, and we take pride in being in control, and we take pride in having all of our lives together.

But that is really not the reality for most of us.

It's certainly not the reality for me.

I have to pray for strength to continue in my workouts.

I have to pray for strength in my marriage.

I have to pray for strength in my parenting journey.

I have to pray for strength in my eating journey.

Like, it is a constant struggle.

That's why I'm here sharing these things with you, because I don't have it all together, but by golly, I'm going to stay in prayer.

I'm going to stay focused, and I'm going to lean into Holy Spirit conviction, because I know where God has called me to, and I know where He's calling you to, and it's to spend time with Him intentionally, building an intimate relationship with Him.

His power is going to rest on you.

When you embrace your weaknesses, it's time to stop the try, stop the strive, and lean in to the weakness.

Let His power work through you.

The power to change comes through your surrender to His perfect will.

One step, one choice.

Eat all the food, just do it, just eat all the food.

25 to 30 grams of protein per meal.

Eat four to five cups of veggies a day.

Get your fruits in, get your healthy carbs in, get your 25 grams of fiber per day, ladies.

Embrace the season that you're in.

Either learn to be still or pray for the courage and conviction to get off your tush and move in the way He's calling you to move.

You are responsible for your choices.

If God is calling you, He wants you to move.

So my encouragement right now is to get up and go.

I don't care what the thing is you've been procrastinating, but get up and go.

Repeat after me.

5, 4, 3, 2, 1, go.

Then get up and move.

Do it again.

Ready?

5, 4, 3, 2, 1, go.

Move.

Go.

Do it.

Make the phone call.

Say the prayer.

Reach out to the hurting friend.

Weight loss without guilt comes through God's grace.

He covers us at every attempt.

It's never going to be perfect.

It's not going to be fast.

Quick fixes don't work.

They don't last forever.

It's not sustainable.

There is a better way.

And it comes through intimate connection with the Holy Spirit living inside of you.

You deserve to heal this way.

You deserve to lose weight without guilt.

And you can do it.

It's just one prayer away.

Hey, sis.

I hope you enjoyed today's episode.

If so, would you take 30 seconds and share it with a friend?

Also, please leave a quick review for the show on Apple Podcasts.

It lights me up to know this podcast is helping you.

Okay, it's time to go make a protein shake and get my sweat on.

No more standing in the kitchen waiting for motivation to appear.

I will meet you back here for another episode.

God bless.
