Your Body is a Temple, but it Feels Like a MESS, Now What?

Lindy Schlabach - Christian Mindset & Weight Loss Coach Season 1 Episode 66

Ugh, the struggle is real. I spoke at a women's lunch yesterday and there were so many courageous women who admitted they struggle like I do. Oftentimes, it's simply our thoughts that take us negative, not our actual truth. Which is why we need to spend time in prayer and the word DAILY, every morning and plant God's truth in our heart.

Get your journal out and 3 things daily for 30 days to write DAILY what you're grateful for about your body. Send me some on IG!

Your body is a temple but feels like a mess.

Now what?

Here's one step to take.

Listen, I know the struggle to lose weight over 40.

So many influencers are pushing products and supplements.

I know I used to be one of them.

How do we know what's what?

How do we know what's right?

We know God has a plan for us.

Oh, can we really be a hot mess?

Like, I'm so tired of feeling messy.

This is not his plan, not even for a second.

So grab your Bible and let's get to work.

Are you sick of trying diet after diet and not losing weight?

Are you tired of doubting your ability to actually lose weight in a healthy way?

Do you wish you could find a laid out for you plan that will help you stay accountable to your goals?

Hey friends, I'm Lindy Schlabach, Christian Fitness & Nutrition Coach.

I gained 100 pounds in my late 20s and struggled for years to get it off.

Nine years ago, I found a system that works and has helped me lose over 90 of those pounds.

I've worked with women in online fitness and nutrition ever since.

In this podcast, I'll teach you how to reframe your thoughts about weight loss and your ability to achieve lasting results and lose weight in a way that honors God without obsessing about the scale and meal plan and prep for your family.

So grab your pre-workout and let's chat.

Hey, hey, Secret Sale kicks off March 17th.

So I had a hysterectomy at 37 and my hormones went completely into the toilet within a year.

I would have to go to bed in the middle of the day and I would nap for hours at a time.

I gained 25 pounds.

I just, I really felt awful.

I knew something had to change.

I had to get hormone replacement for one thing.

And two, I had to really decide to see myself through Christ's eyes because I was not liking anything about my body or how I felt during the morning, through the day, my joints were achy.

Like I just felt terrible.

Where are you struggling to love yourself?

What are you struggling to love about yourself?

Are you constantly feeling shame over your body?

Do you feel messy and unlovable and gross?

Can I offer you a piece of truth right now?

You're not.

You are righteous and holy.

You are fearfully and wonderfully made.

You are loved.

You are forgiven and you are chosen.

You may not feel your best today.

Trust me, I get that.

I've had many of those days as a new mom.

The mom shame and mom guilt is so legit.

I've heard women talk about that for years, but I never really grasped it.

But the second that I want to get in a workout, and I'm 10 minutes in and the baby is crying and I have to pause, it's like, man, I just really wanted to get that extra 20 minutes in.

Then I feel bad and God's like, hey, listen, it's okay for you to want to move your body.

I want you to move your body.

Why don't you go get your baby, snuggle for a minute, change your diapy, put her in her seat and finish your workout.

And the first time I did it, like watching her watch me, she loves to watch me workout.

So there's a lot of times on Saturdays when Darryl's making breakfast, we'll put her in her little jumpy seat and put her in front of my office because she loves to watch me workout.

And so we can take the idea of shame and we can live in it or we can see it from God's perspective as an opportunity to be a good example to our kids.

No matter how you feel, the lies of the enemy are no longer welcome.

They don't get to take up residence in your head anymore.

I want you to start doing out loud affirmations every morning.

I am a child of the Most High God.

I am the head and not the tail.

I am loved.

I am a person of action.

I eat and move according to my goals.

When we start to speak these things out loud, all the lies that we've built up in our head or unhealthy thought patterns or words that we've spoke, they start to flee.

We give the enemy so much credit for the lies that go into our heads, and sometimes it is, it's not the actual devil because he can't be all places at all times, like he's one dude, he's just a fallen angel, but he has a lot of evil cohorts out there.

But most of the time, it's someone who spoke a lie over us.

Sometimes it's our own lies that we have spoke over ourselves.

I've listened to a woman talk about how we actually can speak infertility into our lives if we're not careful about the words that we say, like, I can't get pregnant, I can't do this, I can't lose the weight, I've never lost the weight.

Like we can actually create blocks in our weight loss journey and a lot of like relationship aspects, financial aspects, when we start to speak those things out loud.

But we're claiming God's truth.

We are claiming his word in our lives today.

So here's one thing that I want you to start doing for the next 30 days.

30 days, get a journal.

If you don't have a journal, I love the Dollar General.

They have like little four to five dollar journals.

Get you one, okay?

And every single day, for the next 30 days, you're gonna journal three things daily that you love about your body.

Listen, you're like 30 days, three things, just about your body.

It can be your fingernails, it can be your toes, it can be the way you walk or the way you swim or the way you dance or your hair or your ear or your eyebrows.

I want you to journal three things daily that you are grateful for for your body.

Not that I'm a kind personality or I serve people, no.

Specifically about your body, what you love about your body and what you're grateful for about your body.

I guarantee that within a week, your outlook over your body and yourself are gonna start to change.

You are going to be speaking life over your body.

I love my fluid joints, I love my flexible hips.

You don't have to write things that you're grateful for, that you already have.

You can write things that you're grateful for, that you aspire to.

I am grateful for my lean strong legs that allow me to carry my baby up the stairs.

I love my strong back that allows me to hold my baby in the grocery store.

I love my feet that carry me for walks down the road when I'm taking my puppy on the first walk in spring.

Your outlook is going to change.

Cling to God's truth and he will always remind you of your beauty and worth.

We have to stop measuring our worth and our looks by appearances in what society says.

We have to start seeing ourselves through the lens of the eyes of Jesus Christ who died for you.

You are enough.

You are worthy as you are.

Your body is a temple.

It is a temple of the Holy Spirit.

If Christ is your Savior, he lives in you.

You might feel messy, but we know that our feelings rarely align with truth.

Someone out there is looking at you, admiring the life that you're living.

Maybe it's the relationship that you have, or your beautiful hands, or your sense of speaking ability.

Someone out there admires you for something.

We have to start speaking gratitude over our lives, over our bodies, even the struggle parts.

I look at my legs sometimes, and the stretch marks, and the cellulites, and the dimples.

It can be really easy to get frustrated.

I have 13 pins and a plate in my right ankle, and right now, it is stiff.

It does not want to move at all.

I'm doing a 30-minute bar workout right now.

It's a 60-day program, and I do it barefoot, and it is hard for my ankle to bend.

Like, it's frustrating.

Right now, sitting here in my chair podcasting, it feels tight.

It can be really easy to get frustrated because my body can't move like it could six months or a year ago.

Or I can just claim happiness and gratitude that I have a foot, that my ankle is there, that I can work on flexibility, and I have the opportunity to carry my daughter and show her examples of living healthy and exercise and movement.

Focus on gratitude.

Thirty days, get your journal, start writing them down, start speaking your affirmations, ask God to inspire your prayers, ask him to inspire your affirmations, ask him to inspire your words so that you can start to remember the things about yourself that maybe you've forgotten.

There are things there.

Maybe you were a dancer.

I danced competitively for 10 years.

I'm grateful for those times.

Think about all of the things that you're grateful for for your body.

Did you give birth?

Have you ran a marathon?

Did you wake up today and just get out of bed and smiled even if you're not at the goal that you have placed on yourself?

Start praying over those things.

Start seeking godly goals.

What does God need you to work on?

Stop focusing on the weight loss.

Start focusing on Holy Spirit connection and obedience and being sensitive to what he has for you.

And you will be at every goal that you've ever imagined and 10 times more before you know it.

So get to journaling.

I want to know your progress.
