It can really start to weigh me down if I'm not careful.

So today we're gonna talk about how guilt and shame could be keeping you from spiritual and physical healing, and why shedding the weight of shame, the weight of that condemnation is gonna lead you to spiritual and physical healing.

So I'm gonna share with you three steps that you can take into your day today that will allow you and help you lean on God when these thoughts come.

So hang on tight.

Hey, sister, welcome to Her Weight Loss Mindset.

Are you sick of trying diet after diet and not losing weight?

Do you wish you could find easy meal prep ideas for your family so you're not standing in the kitchen yet again, wondering what everyone is going to eat for dinner that's in line with your goals?

Do you spend hours Googling easy workouts but then have no time to do them because your motivation only goes so far?

Hey there, friend, I'm Lindy Schlabach, Christian Fitness & Nutrition Coach, encourager and friend.

I gained 100 pounds in my late 20s and struggled for years to get it off.

Seven years ago, I found a basic system that works and has helped me lose over 90 of those pounds.

I've been working with women in online fitness and nutrition ever since.

In this podcast, I'll teach you how to lose weight in a way that honors God without obsessing about the scale and meal plan and prep for your family and follow a macro-based plan that allows you to eat the foods you love while you reach your goals.

It's time to give God your health journey and watch him make you new from the inside out.

You've got this, sister.

Now go grab your pre-workout or your third coffee like me and let's chat.

I'd like to know, when do you feel the most shame over food?

Is it after you've eaten a big meal or maybe you binged on a row of Oreos?

Maybe you're starving yourself or maybe you're relying on sugar.

When do you most feel shame?

Are they holding you back from living free in the freedom that Christ died for?

I have experienced shame in many ways.

I gained 100 pounds in my late 20s.

I didn't talk about a sexual assault.

I started to gain weight.

I was bartending.

I was partying.

I did like a keto diet.

I lost a bunch of weight and then when it made me sick, I went off of it, gained 50 pounds.

I lost my grandpa a couple years later, gained another 50 pounds.

I have been fat shamed.

I have been fit shamed.

I have been shamed all around from other people.

I have shamed myself.

If I'm not careful, I can get into a really negative body image, struggle sometimes with body dysmorphia.

The whole concept and conversation of shame is one that it always makes me feel uncomfortable, but I feel like it's something we have to talk about because we read in God's word that there is now no shame or condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

It's really hard to move past those thoughts.

If you're someone who has a past or you've made poor choices like me, it's sometimes when people bring up your past or things pop into your brain and you have these images of needing to repent and things like that, shame can hold us into such almost paralyzing fears sometimes that we don't even know how to move forward.

And we know shame comes from the enemy.

How do we recognize it?

How do we pray through it?

And how do we move on to healing?

Because shame is never going to lead us to our God-given goals.

We're never going to get to walk in our God-given purpose.

We're never going to shed the weight of shame.

We're never going to shed the unwanted pain.

We're never going to shed the unwanted pounds.

If we don't move on to a mindset and a heart posture of spiritual and physical healing, the entire point of the Biblical Weight Loss Framework is just that.

And so as we kick off this week, I'm just really excited to see how we all move forward.

Because I continue to learn even as I prayerfully put together this program.

It's just really interesting and exciting to see what the word has to say about shame.

So I'm going to give you three steps today if you are struggling to work through shame in your life.

I want you to get a journal.

I like to go to the Dollar General.

They have really cute journals.

They're like five bucks a piece.

Get you one and start recognizing, start looking towards the areas of your life where you tend to feel shame.

And it could be in food.

It could be relationships, finances, work, weight.

It can be in a lot of different things.

So I would like you to start praying and asking God to give you, help you recognize times where these thoughts start to come in.

Who are you with?

Are you seeing a recurring theme in people that are making you feel shame?

Or is it an environment you're finding yourself in?

Is it a thought process that you're in personally?

So start to recognize those and write them down.

Journal over these things.

Write down the habits specifically.

And then step two is ask God to take those from you.

To help you replace it with his promise and his peace and his comfort.

Because there's now no shame or condemnation.

You're in Christ Jesus, there's no shame, there's no condemnation.

Those are lives streamed from the pit of hell and it is time that we start to recognize them and remove the power that the enemy has over our lives and our body and our future.

It's time to let it go.

Your third step is you're gonna pray Psalm 139 23 and 24.

It says, search me God and know my heart.

Test me and know my anxious thoughts.

See if there is any offensive way in me and lead me in the way everlasting.

Think about that.

Test me and know my anxious thoughts.

See if there is any offensive way in me.

Lead me in the way everlasting.

If we ask God to search our hearts, he's gonna dig up those pits of shame.

He's gonna dig up those seeds and we are going to be able to heal.

When we heal our minds, we can start to take care of our bodies in a godly biblical way.

When we start to take care of our bodies in a godly biblical way, we start to shed unwanted pain, we shed unwanted pounds, and we can walk truly in our God-given purpose.

When we pray for peace and healing, God is going to provide.

He's going to heal you from the inside out.

So I would like you to share this episode with a sister in Christ who may be struggling in this area, and remind her there is now no shame or condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

Go to the dollar store, get you a journal, start to pray that Psalm 139 verse, and ask God to take these thoughts from you.

Take every thought captive and make them obedient to Christ.

You are not your past.

You are not the labels that other people put on you.

You are not the negative self-loathing talk that sometimes comes out of your mind or the thoughts that you think in your head.

You are beautifully created in the image of Christ.

Perfect, just as you are today.

And it's okay to have a goal.

It's okay to want to work towards a better life, towards weight loss or inner healing or whatever the thing is he's calling you to.

If he's planted that seed in your heart, he wants you to know that he's there and he's going to give you exactly what you need.

Trust the process and keep going.

It's going to get hard.

It's going to get messy.

When we start to do this work, when we start to dig these things up, sometimes we find out things that we forgot that we don't really want to remember.

But we're not pushing them away.

We're going to embrace them.

We're going to bring them in.

We're going to pray over them.

We're going to bless and release.

And we're going to let God take it.

Kelly Clarkson said, What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

And by golly, she's right.

There are a lot of hard things that happen in our lives.

There are a lot of hard things that happen in the world.

But it's time that we shed the weight of shame.

We are walking in God's truth and His purpose, which will lead to spiritual and physical healing.

And when we are healed spiritually and physically, the weight falls off because we're not focusing inward on self and vanity metrics and weight and all of these things that don't matter.

We're focusing on what God says.

Search me God and know my heart.

Test me and know my anxious thoughts.

See if there is any offensive way in me and lead me in the way of our lasting.

The way of our lasting is His way.

It's His way.

Do this work.

It will be hard.

It will be messy.

But I promise you, beloved, it will be the best decision that you've ever made.

Hey, sweets.

I hope you enjoyed today's episode.

If so, would you take 30 seconds and share it with a friend who may also want to lose weight without all the dieting and restriction?

Also, please leave a quick review for the show on Apple Podcasts.

It lights me up to know this podcast is helping you.

Okay, it's time to go make a protein shake and get my sweat on.

No more standing in the kitchen waiting for motivation to appear.

I'll meet you back next week for another episode.

Be blessed.
