Ready to Shift Your Attitude? 2 Hacks to Love Your Body

Lindy Schlabach - Christian Mindset & Weight Loss Coach Season 1 Episode 49

What season of life are you in? Are you requiring more GRACE than grind? I know I am as a new mama. If you're struggling to love your body today, like I am, let's add these 2 hacks to our love arsenal.

1. Focus on all your body does for you. Did you wake up today? Walk to the car? Make food for your family? Who does God say you are? Let's start praying through unhealthy thoughts about our bodies and start to THANK her daily for all she does. When we operate in a heart posture of gratitude, we begin to focus on who we are instead of who society says we "should" be.

2. Unfollow. Unsubscribe. Bless and release. If a page or person is making you feel unworthy, bless and release. Your duty is to live for Christ ALONE, no one else, not even yourself. Remove the barriers keeping you from seeing yourself as He does, righteous, forgiven, fearfully and wonderfully made.

This is a massive perspective shift, but it's required for sanity, healing and ultimately reaching your own personal goal. God has you right where He needs you, so be IN the moment and watch Him work!

Are you sick of trying diet after diet and NOT losing weight?

    • Meal Plan and Prep for Your Family
    • Follow a MACRO based plan that allows you to eat the foods you love.
    • Recognize and pray through triggers keeping you stuck.
    • I’ll help you Plan your week and schedule your self-care time.
    • Cultivate a spirit of self-discipline in your workouts you actually enjoy.

I have had a vision of my quote unquote perfect body for years, decades.

Oh my gosh, I can feel the shame I felt as a 250 pound woman who had always been small and what I wouldn't give to have that body again.

Now having lost most of the weight, I still struggle with loving me as me.

So, how do we learn to see ourselves as God does, or our husbands, or our kids?

Hey, sister, welcome to Her Weight Loss Mindset.

Are you sick of trying diet after diet and not losing weight?

Do you wish you could find easy meal prep ideas for your family so you're not standing in the kitchen yet again, wondering what everyone is going to eat for dinner that's in line with your goals?

Do you spend hours Googling easy workouts but then have no time to do them because your motivation only goes so far?

Hey there, friend, I'm Lindy Schlabach, Christian Fitness & Nutrition Coach, encourager and friend.

I gained 100 pounds in my late 20s and struggled for years to get it off.

Seven years ago, I found a basic system that works and has helped me lose over 90 of those pounds.

I've been working with women in online fitness and nutrition ever since.

In this podcast, I'll teach you how to lose weight in a way that honors God without obsessing about the scale.

And meal plan and prep for your family.

And follow a macro-based plan that allows you to eat the foods you love while you reach your goals.

It's time to give God your health journey and watch him make you new from the inside out.

You've got this, sister.

Now go grab your pre-workout or your third coffee like me and let's chat.

So February 3rd, we're gonna kick off Biblical Weight Loss Framework.

And this is really an opportunity to take three months and deep dive into your own personal habits in your weight loss journey.

So we really make intentional connection with God that first 30 days, recognizing habits, triggers, traumas, and creating healthy mindsets around those.

And then month two incorporates nutrition, intentional movement.

And then month three is really walking in that, okay, we have steps in place for healing our body while we use the nutrition to heal our mind.

And ultimately to live out the Great Commission, what is our God-given purpose?

We each were created with one before He said, let there be light in Genesis 1.

So the whole process of the mentor or the framework is to really help you align with your God-given goals.

So you can find more information in the show notes below at herweightlossmindset.com.

So, oh my gosh, from weight gain, I gained 100 pounds in my late 20s, to weight loss, to legalistic diets, to today being completely off plan, being a new mom, my husband and I just adopted a baby before weeks ago tomorrow.

And so just really trying to figure out, you know, what season of life we're in right now.

And how do we just learn to enjoy every day, no matter what season you're in?

These are two hacks to love yourself where you're at today.

So just ask yourself, what season are you actually in?

We're coming off the holiday.

Maybe you're carrying a few extra pounds like I am.

Maybe you feel like you've already failed your New Year's resolution.

If that's the headspace that you're in, go back to the resolution podcast that I shared a couple weeks ago.

Really, when we can just learn to love ourselves where we are and see ourselves as God sees us, it's going to really allow us to give ourselves the grace that we need to keep pushing forward because we know that weight loss takes time, but biblical weight loss takes even more time because we're learning to rely on the Holy Spirit.

When those thoughts come in about negative thoughts about your body, I want you to think what has your body done for you?

Did you wake up this morning?

If you listen to this podcast, you did.

Were you able to walk to the kitchen?

You have feet.

Were you able to pour a cup of coffee or make breakfast for your family?

Are you choosing to be grateful for the things that you have?

Your hands and your feet, your sight, your senses.

Why do we find so much value in our weight, in our body image instead of finding our value and worth and identity in Christ?

Who does God say that you are?

And why we do this is so that we can focus on who we are, on who he says we are.

This allows us to remove societal pressure, to look a certain way or weigh a certain way, to be thin, to obsess about exercise or having abs.

We get to walk in line with Holy Spirit and let God be our identity, not our body.

You are beautiful, perfectly created, as you are.

Have you maybe had some struggles that have led you to maybe be in a place where you, you know, health-wise, like you need to lose weight, or you've used food as a crutch instead of prayer?

Listen, it happens, okay?

Grace overgrind, all right?

We have to learn to love ourselves today.

No amount of weight loss is ever going to be enough.

In 2019, I hit my quote-unquote weight loss goal, but I was eating an illegalistic diet.

I was not enjoying time with my friends and my family.

I've talked to you guys about this a thousand times.

Your weight will never make you happy.

Our joy comes from having Christ as your personal savior.

We read in Galatians about the fear of the Spirit.

Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, faithfulness, goodness, and self-control.

Of these things, there is no law.

So just learning every time your mind starts to go negative about your body or your weight, say thank you, Father, for this body, for allowing me to carry a baby or play with my nieces and nephews or whatever the thing is.

Like find a couple of things that you can keep in your arsenal.

So when you start to go negative, you can really start to focus on the gratitude.

I said this before, if you woke up today with only what you thanked God for yesterday, what would you have?

Would you have your sight, your senses, your hands, your feet, your stomach that carried a baby or your strong legs?

Maybe they have cellulite, maybe they have dimples.

Welcome to the world.

Like most people do.

It's OK.

All right.

We have to start loving ourselves today.

And then pray through your goals.

Ask God to show up for you and to help you see yourself as He does, how your husband does, how your kids do.

This is a way to love yourself today.

When we can see ourselves through the eyes of Christ, we can be a lot more gracious with ourselves so that when we do eat a healthy meal or we do make it to do a workout, it's not because we're trying to work towards something or strive towards something.

It's because we want to honor God with the choices that He's convicting us with, not because we need to lose a pound.

And then pretty soon what happens is you're operating in Holy Spirit obedience regardless of the outcome of weight loss.

Weight loss just doesn't matter.

When we're operating in the fruits of the spirit, you're going to achieve those goals eventually.

But the more you strive and try instead of God letting him work through you, you're always going to be in that mindset of focusing on things that just don't matter.

Point number two, if you're following someone that is making you feel guilty about your weight or always posting healthy recipes that you just don't have time to make or workouts you don't have time to do, unfollow them, unsubscribe to your emails.

If people or pages on social media are making you feel unworthy of weight loss or constantly thinking about these things, bless and release them.

Comparison is the thief of joy.

It is a tactic of the enemy.

Joy is a fruit of the spirit.

Comparison is robbing you of your fruit.

We're separating ourselves from the image of Christ when we are comparing and body shaming.

And then you start to like build resentment towards people.

That's not biblical either.

So unfollow, you are worth the unfollow.

In the framework in October, I encouraged one of my clients to do this.

And she went through and like unsubscribe from emails.

She unfollowed all of her Instagram, you know, weight loss workouts.

Like if you need to do that for a season, do it.

Bless and release.

Ask God to give you the eyes to see what he has for you.

And then join the framework and let's work through the traumas and triggers and help you create a Holy Spirit led plan that will lead you to actual sustainable, Godly results.

It's gonna take time.

I'm not telling you at the end of this framework, you're gonna be at your weight loss goal.

You're not going to.

This could take you years, but you are going to create healthy mindset practices so that moving forward, we can recognize those healthy, unhealthy thoughts and replace them with healthy biblical scripture to help you remind yourself in those times of shame and guilt, who God says you are.

You are worthy, perfectly created right now today.

So look in the mirror or just say out loud, I love you body.

Thank you for all that you do for me.

I eat and move according to my goals.

I want to see myself through the eyes of Christ and then pray every day, Lord, let me see me as you see me.

Remove all of the thoughts of either the enemy or myself or other people who've made me feel less than because of my weight.

Remove all of those things.

Let me operate in a heart posture of forgiveness for myself or for other people.

And let me start to walk and move in my God-given identity.

That is how we heal.

That is how we achieve biblical sustainable weight loss.

In time, in God's time, the more you strive and try in diet and calorie count, the more he's just sitting back waiting for you saying, daughter, you don't have to, it doesn't have to be this hard.

Trust me, I've done all the hard things.

I've done it the wrong way for decades.

Take my advice.

I promise you, when you start to give God your weight loss journey, when you start to just look in the mirror and say, I love you, thank you body for all you do for me, your mindset's gonna shift.

Your body's gonna shift.

When you start speaking life over your body instead of shame and guilt, think of your body as two separate entities.

My massage therapist taught me this years ago.

Your brain is one entity and your body is another.

And what you think and speak to your brain goes to your body.

So if you say, I'm tired, I'm fat, I'm ugly, I'm lazy, that's what you're gonna become.

But when we say, I eat and move according to my goals.

I am a child of God, I am beautiful, I am fearfully and wonderfully created.

That's who we become.

So speak life, not death.

And I promise, in time, in God's time, you're going to achieve the results you want to achieve.

Let it go, let God in, and watch what he does in your life, in your body, and in your brain.

God bless.

Hey, sweets, I hope you enjoyed today's episode.

If so, would you take 30 seconds and share it with a friend who may also want to lose weight without all the dieting and restriction?

Also, please leave a quick review for the show on Apple Podcasts.

It lights me up to know this podcast is helping you.

Okay, it's time to go make a protein shake and get my sweat on.

No more standing in the kitchen waiting for motivation to appear.

I'll meet you back next week for another episode.

Be blessed.
