Worried About Your Next Failed Resolution? Try This ONE Thing Instead!

Lindy Schlabach - Christian Mindset & Weight Loss Coach Season 1 Episode 43

I'm all about setting goals, as long as they include Holy Spirit confirmation. How many goals and resolutions have you set without first consulting God?

I wholeheartedly believe you SHOULD be setting goals, according to scripture, of course. What does God say?

I'd like to encourage to not set a weight loss resolution and instead ask God what you actually need to work on.

What I've found in almost eight years of coaching women is that they don't often need to lose weight, they need to eat better, sleep better, drink more water or move more, they need a better routine and time management.

Set SMART Goals, this is what we work on in the Biblical Weight Loss Framework, listing and praying over them.

We should have goals; we just should seek God's will instead of our own.

What kind of goals are you setting this year? Will you be brave enough to add any He encourages and remove any He says?

Are you sick of trying diet after diet and NOT losing weight?

Hey there friend, I'm Lindy Schlabach, Christian Fitness & Nutrition Coach. I gained 100 pounds in my late twenties and struggled for years to get it off. Seven years ago, I found a basic system that worked and has helped me lose 90 of those pounds. I’ve been working with women in online fitness and nutrition ever since to break chains of diet culture, embrace their bodies and fueling instead of dieting.

In this podcast, I'll teach you how to:

  • • Lose Weight in a Way that honors God without obsessing about the scale
    • Meal Plan and Prep for Your Family
    • Follow a MACRO based plan that allows you to eat the foods you love.
    • Recognize and pray through triggers keeping you stuck.
    • I’ll help you Plan your week and schedule your self-care time.
    • Cultivate a spirit of self-discipline in your workouts you actually enjoy.

It's time to give God your health journey and watch Him make you new, from the inside, OUT.

Your New Year's is about to get a lot easier.

Hey sister, welcome to Her Weight Loss Mindset.

Do you wish you could find easy meal prep ideas for your family so you're not standing in the kitchen yet again, wondering what everyone is going to eat for dinner that's in line with your goals?

Do you spend hours googling easy workouts but then have no time to do them because your motivation only goes so far?

Hey there friend, I'm Lindy Schlabach, Christian Fitness & Nutrition Coach, encourager and friend.

I gained 100 pounds in my late 20s and struggled for years to get it off.

Seven years ago, I found a basic system that works and has helped me lose over 90 of those pounds.

I've been working with women in online fitness and nutrition ever since.

In this podcast, I'll teach you how to lose weight in a way that honors God without obsessing about the scale.

And meal plan and prep for your family.

And follow a macro based plan that allows you to eat the foods you love while you reach your goals.

It's time to give God your health journey and watch him make you new from the inside out.

You've got this sister, now go grab your pre-workout or your third coffee like me and let's chat.

It's the last week before the Biblical Weight Loss Framework kicks off.

I am so excited to introduce you to this program.

This is a completely God given mindset shift focus over your weight loss, your nutrition, your mindset, overhauling traumas and triggers, all of the things that have kept you stuck, removing diet culture and scary carb diet mindsets.

This is just a real intentional 90 day deep dive into giving God your thoughts, learning to connect with the Holy Spirit and really operate in a heart posture of obedience to where God is going to take you.

If you are ready to join the Biblical Weight Loss Framework, click the link in the show notes below, get signed up.

We kick off on the 6th and it is going to be an incredible time of connection and healing and I cannot wait to see what God is going to do.

So I think it took maybe 12, maybe 15 years before I finally gave up setting New Year's resolutions.

Every year I'd set one, every year I'd lose steam, and then shame and self pity and old habits and the never ending cycle of diet defeat would kick in, and here I was.

Have you been there?

Please tell me that I am not alone.

There's one thing that I have really learned to do in the last few years that have helped me to feel empowered when I feel that fizzle kind of run out and continue to move forward.

And it's one thing, it's to set God-focused goals.

It's okay to have a health goal.

It's okay to have a weight loss goal, or a personal goal, or a financial goal, or a marriage goal, as long as we have had that Holy Spirit encouragement and conviction to do it.

You know the goals that feel right in your heart and the goals that don't.

So what I would recommend is writing down a few goals.

Maybe you want to pick a couple different areas of your life that you want to set some goals.

Set a 12-month goal and then you can break them down.

What do you need to do each quarter?

What do you need to do each month?

And then what do you need to do each week and then each day?

So in the weight loss framework, we'll actually work on your goals in a monthly focus so that you know month two, if you have a weight loss goal, we're going to work backwards.

We're going to pray over it, make sure that it is God-ordained, and then we are going to set some intentional steps, tactical steps that you can take every single day.

So set a few goals, write them down and say, okay, Lord, I am giving these to you.

If there are any goals here that I have written down, please give me the courage and strength to cross them out.

And if there are any goals that I need to add here, please give me the courage and strength to write them down and trust that you are going to give me what I need to reach them.

Listen, if God is not confirming right away, that doesn't mean that you need to remove that goal.

Maybe start to take some slow, tiny steps towards it and then just see how you feel.

You're going to know either the Holy Spirit is going to convict you or you're going to have a good feeling about it or a not so good feeling.

Okay, so we're going to set a couple of goals.

Maybe you have a financial goal.

Maybe you have a marriage goal.

Maybe you have a weight loss goal or maybe you have a business goal.

So write those down.

Pray over them and then we're going to make them a SMART goal.

So in the weight loss framework, we will walk through specifically how to do this.

But a SMART goal is specific, it's measurable, it's attainable, it's reasonable, and it's timely.

So we're going to break those down each month, each week so you know what you need to do.

If you look at your goal and you say, okay, I said I'm going to lose 20 pounds in a month, that's probably not a God-given goal because we really don't read about weight loss goals in the Bible, but we do read about obedience.

So maybe we're going to say, okay, I have a weight loss goal, but really I need to focus on listening to God when I plan my meals or when I plan my month or when I want to flake on the workout that I know He's called me to do.

So instead of really focusing on a weight loss goal, we're going to have maybe an obedience goal or a movement goal.

Then you can use that smart formula to figure out what you need to do on a daily basis to reach that goal.

So if you have a financial goal and you want to pay off debt, and you have, let's say, $10,000 worth of debt that you want to pay off this year, working that goal backwards to know what you need to do each quarter, month, week, and day, that's really going to help you.

So setting smart goals, giving them to God, and letting him sift through them is key.

Wait for divine confirmation.

Maybe if you don't hear a clear word when you want to start a new business, maybe that's him saying, listen, can you just wait a minute?

I remember the day that he told me to start a podcast, and I was like, I don't want to start a podcast.

I've never done a podcast.

I don't even know where to start.

I said, okay, Lord, if you want me to start a podcast, you lead me to where I need to go in order to start a podcast.

Within the hour, he led me exactly where I needed to go.

That was my divine confirmation.

So if you've written down a smart goal that is a business goal and you're not getting that divine confirmation, then you need to have the strength and courage to say, okay, Lord, this is where I always thought I was headed.

But if this is not where you're leading me, please let me know.

And in the Weight Loss Framework, month three, we're gonna walk through purpose.

So once you heal your mind in month one, and we've prayed through traumas and triggers, keeping you stuck, and we set you month two on a really healthy, focused nutrition and intentional movement goal, we're starting to work in that self-love.

And when we work in that self-love, we can actually walk in the divine purpose that he's called us to walk in, okay?

So if you have a goal and he's not confirming, just maybe sit back and idle on that.

Because it's in his time, when we wait for his time, he makes things better, we read in Ephesians, that we could ever ask or imagine, right?

So if you feel a nudge, lean in, trust that his ways are higher and his plans are greater.

Trust that he doesn't want you to set any more failed resolutions to.

He's beyond grateful that you're letting him in, that you're praying over these goals and that you're letting him lead.

So, I want to know, what smart goals are you going to set this year?

One thing I read, oh man, I read it this past year, it said, if your goals are set big enough that you can achieve them on your own, they're not high enough.

Your goals should be set so high that when you achieve them, you know that you can only give the glory to God because there's no way that you could ever achieve them on your own.

That is divine confirmation in a goal.

So don't be afraid to set big, hairy, audacious goals.

That's what we always called them when I worked in outside sales.

A BHAG, a big, hairy, audacious goals.

Goal, don't be afraid to set them big, but also don't be afraid to let God in and let him lead because he is going to lead you to the greatest thing that you could ever experience.

I promise.

I hope this message blessed you.
